Assessment and Multiple Measures Other Test Scores: Any of the following test can also be used to place you in English & Math: ACT, SAT and CAASPP/EAP. HS GPA/Grades: Your overall High School GPA (“Non-weighted”) can also be used to place you. Previous Course Work: Previous college or high school courses (ERWC) in English and Math can also be used to place you . Assessments from Other Colleges: Santa Ana College will also accept assessments test results from other colleges in English, reading and math. Only if test were taken within two years from the date tested .

How Many Classes Should I Take? If you work… Consider enrolling in… 40 hrs. a week 6 unit (typically 2 classes) 30 hrs. a week 9 units (typically 3 classes) 10-20 hrs. a week 12 units (typically 4 classes) 0-10 hrs. a week 14-16 units (4 or more classes) Student Planning Guide, Page 3 Full-time students take 12+ units Part-time students take 11 or less units Athletic eligibility take at least 12 units Note: The majority of A.A/G.E./Transfer courses are 3 units.

What Goals Can I Complete At SAC? Why would someone want to earn a Certificate? An Associate Degree? Or want to transfer? Student Planning Guide, Pages 2-3

Vocational Certificates Certificates lead to entry level employment in specialized occupations OR upgrading employment . Accounting Auto Tech/Diesel Technology Business Applications Digital Media Arts Child Development Computer Info Systems/Computer Science Engineering Fashion Design Merchandising Management Manufacturing Technology Medical Assistant Paralegal Pharmacy Technology TV/Video Communications Students pursing a certificate are interested in learning specific skills for a particular job. General Education courses are typically NOT required to earn a Certificate. Total units to earn a certificate vary, from 9 to 57 units.

Academic Calendar 2017-18 Fall 2018 June 21st – Last Day to Pay for ClassesAugust 27th - Instruction BeginsSeptember 9th - Last day to add and to drop full-term classes without “W” grade with enrollment fee refund for full semester.November 18th - Last Day to Drop with a “W” for full semester. December 16 th - Instruction Ends

Academic Expectations What is “ Good Academic Standing?”Maintaining above a 2.0 GPA Completing at least 50% of the units you enroll in You must maintain good academic standing at Santa Ana College Academic Probation: If you’ve attempted at least 12 semester units and have a cumulative GPA is below a 2.0 Progress Probation: If you’ve attempted at least 12 semester units and 50% or more of the course grades were recorded as W, I, NC or NP

Academic Expectations Failure to maintain Good Academic Standing may result in the loss of: Priority Registration Students who have not met academic expectations for two consecutive semesters will be required to register after students who have fulfilled priority registration requirements and are in good academic standing. CA College Promise Grant (CCPG) Program Formally known as BOG Fee Waiver Under new regulations, students will lose eligibility for the Board of Governors (BOG) Waiver if they have not met Academic expectations for two consecutive semesters starting Fall 2016. (Foster Youth are exempt from the policy).

Fees/Payment Policy Payment Deadline Last day to pay your Tuition & Registration Fees is June 21st 2018. Students will be dropped from classes for non-payment.
