Seraphim
Isaih
6: 1-2
“Above it stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he cover his face, and with twain, he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.”
This is the most complete description I could find. Twain means two. Slide4
Cherubim
Ezekiel 1:5-11
“Also
out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a
man. And
every one had four faces, and every one had four
wings. And
their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the
colour
of burnished
brass. And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
Here it is. I am sure there are better pictures, but I liked this one. Slide5
Thrones
This angel’s description is the hardest to decipher
Ezekiel 10:10-14
And
as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a
wheel. When
they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they
went. And
their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four
had. As
for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel. And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.Slide6
Dominions, Virtues, Power, Principalities
These angels physical appearance is not described at all in the bible, (that I found) nor is their job. All we can do is relate their jobs to their titles: dominion, virtue, power, and principle.Slide7
Archangels
Daniel 8:15-16
And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man. And I heard a man's voice between the banks of
Ulai
, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
Again, not an accurate picture, but it’s hard to find pictures like this one depicting the angel without wings.
It is said that archangels are the actual defenders of humanity as a whole from evil.Slide8
Angels
Judges 6:12-13; 21-22
12 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of
valour
.
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the
Midianites
.
21Then the angel of the Lord put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.
22 And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the Lord, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! for because I have seen an angel of the Lord face to face.
These scriptures do not give an actual description of an angel, however the angel was mistaken for a man which suggests that he appeared no different than a human.Angels are the supposed individual guardian of each person. I chose this picture because this is how we like to picture our guardian angels.Slide9
Final Notes
I hope this helped a little.
The bible suggests that there is a rank structure in place but no mention is made of the order of the celestial hierarchy.
