Biome Project- Tropical Forest: Transcript

By Alexis Bialek Introduction I chose this biome because I have always thought that Tropical forests were interesting and they have a lot of different characteristics to them that are cool to study. By:. Cecep. . Kusmana. Faculty of Forestry, IPB. 2010. The word of TROPICAL RAIN FOREST was introduced by the German Botanist A.F.W. . Schimper. . pada. . tahun. 1898 (Abad 19). TROPISCHE REGENDWALD = Tropical Rain Forest . “Ecology is no. thing”. I. Definition. :. Organisms. Populations. Communities. Ecosystems. II. Levels of Investigations in Ecology. Chpt 52. Chpt 53. Chpt 54. Chpt 55. Distribution of organisms. By Elyna And Chloe. Climate and Temperature . The climate of the marine biome is mostly varied. Since it is the largest biome in the world, the climate varies from -40 degrees fahreheit to over 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees fahrenheit, but it is warmer near the equator where the direct rays of sun can pierce the water and warm it. The coldest is in the north and south poles, where the water is close to freezing if not frozen (Glaciers). Also, the deeper the ocean is, the colder the water will be because the sunlight isn't directly piercing it.. Year 9 FUSE - ecology unit. Environments . are grouped into BIOMES. group of ecosystems that have same climate & dominant communities. TROPICAL RAIN FOREST. has . most species, BIODIVERSITY. canopy = top |  understory =  below canopy . Unit Assessment. Third Eight Weeks. Life Science. 1. What is an estuary?. Extremely fertile area where a river meets an ocean; mixture of saltwater and freshwater; serves as a nursery for many species of fish. Microhabitat – By the Building. Microhabitat – Open Field. Microhabitat - Comparison. By the Building. Open Field. Pringles. Tree. Paper Wrappers. Brick Wall. Fence. Dirt. Bird. Ants. Ants. Bird. What is a Biome? _______________________________ ______________________________________________. Directions:. 1. Use page 99 of the Prentice Hall biology book and color code the biomes of the world (pg 2 of this packet). Key Features of the Boreal Forest Biome. This biome has short summers and long cold winters. It has moderate precipitation. A few species of evergreen or coniferous trees like pine, spruce, fir, cedar and larch dominate the plant cover. Coniferous trees are adapted to survive the cold climate and acidic, poorly drained soils. The Taiga terrain (Russian word) alternates between bogs and coniferous forests.. A BIG group of LIVING things . Different kinds of species. Large geographical area/ REGION. How are biomes commonly identified?. Biomes are commonly identified by the Biome’s dominant . plant species. Biome Project Santa Cruz, Bolivia Elizabeth Sanchelli The Biome The Biome of Santa Cruz, Bolivia is very tropical, and filled with biodiversity. It has a lot of greenery all around the city, and is known for it’s beautiful waterfalls. There are many different types of exotic plants around the land. CPR Lake Forest CA

Photosynthesis. Cellular Respiration.  . Biological Carbon Cycle. Carbon enters all food webs, both terrestrial and aquatic, through . autotrophs. (usually through photosynthesis). Heterotrophs . consume the organic molecules, and the organic carbon is passed through food chains and webs..
