FRESHWATER VS SALTWATER Which liquid will hold heat the longest?: Transcript

QUESTION When heated to about 370 degrees celsius will saltwater or freshwater hold heat the longest  RESEARCH      Table salt nutrition facts can be found at the back of the packaging Every 1 tablespoon 18 grams of table salt you gain 0 calories there is 0 total fat so there is no saturated fat polyunsaturated fat and monounsaturated fat Along with no saturated fats there is also no cholesterol or any carbohydrates as well as no sugars or protein Salt may not be a good source of vitamins ADB12C and B6 since there is no trace of them in table salt including calcium iron magnesium But  there is 590mg of sodium in salt There is also 1mg of potassium . Saltwater crocodiles are found throughout South-East Asia and Northern Australia. Although they are named ‘Saltwater’ crocodiles, they can be found 240km upstream in fresh water! Saltwate Heat/Energy needs to be…... . added or removed. Heat that is removed is….. Exothermic. system. heat. surroundings. Heat that is added is….. Endothermic. system. heat. surroundings. Endothermic versus Exothermic Example WS. Parkland . Junior High School. . Mrs. Friesen. Water. Our “blue planet” is unique among the planets in our solar system because 74% of its surface is covered by water.. Humans depend on water supply and quality. Abstract. Question. Salinity kit. Soil testing kits. pH test (water and soil). Thermometer. Materials. Data. Conclusions. Our hypothesis was that if there is a change from freshwater to saltwater, then the tidal plant species in each area will differ. The data collected from our experiment helped support our hypothesis. In our findings we saw that in the freshwater location, there was a greater amount of biodiversity and the plants were generally larger. On the other hand, we saw that in the saltwater location, the banks had less biodiversity and consisted with only Phragmites. One explanation for this is for the fact that the abundance of freshwater in the freshwater location allowed for a large variety of large plants to live in this area. However, only a thin layer of freshwater on the surface of the water was present at the saltwater location, which minimized the diversity of plant life that could live in this area. This minimized the competition in this area, allowing it to be overrun by Phragmites plants. . These areas have extra notes to help you.. Make notes as we go along, always including these post-its. Notes. Objectives. Objectives. BRONZE. To define ‘latent heat’. SILVER. To be able to measure latent heat. The Importance of Choosing the Right Technique. Choosing the right technique helps retain nutrients:. nutrients can be destroyed by heat (. eg. ., Vitamin C). vitamins and minerals can be lost in juices or boiling water. Unit 2. What is matter. ?. -Matter . is what makes up all substances, whether it is a . solid, liquid or gas. . . Molecules. , atoms and sub-atomic particles are all matter. . What’s . matter made of?. The material: conductor or insulator?. Area. Ex: a bigger window vs. a smaller one.. Thickness. Ex: heat escapes a thinner . styrofoam. cup than a thicker one.. Heat and State of Matter. Does the absorption or release of heat always cause a temp change? . Aquarium types, parts, and testing.. Aquariums come in four main . types:. Freshwater. – salinities less than 0.5 ppt.. Saltwater. – contains water and organisms found in the ocean at salinities of 30-35 ppt.. Heat/Energy needs to be…... . added or removed. Heat that is removed is….. Exothermic. system. heat. surroundings. Heat that is added is….. Endothermic. system. heat. surroundings. Endothermic versus Exothermic Example WS. 1st period . Bodies of Salt Water. What are main bodies of saltwater?. All oceans are bodies of salt water. A freshwater ocean does not exist . 97% saltwater. Which body of water contains the highest salt Content? .
