February 1996 tile shall be not leaner than 1:3 by mass. Where colouring material is used in the wearing layer, it shall not exceed 10% by mass of cement used in the mix. The tiles shall be cured in moist condition continuously as required at 5.4. The SHAPE AND DIMENSIONS: Tiles shall be of the shapes dimension and tolerances as specified. Specials and half-tiles shall be strictly as per the requirements specified and shall be within the tolerance indicated. GENERAL QUALITY OF TILES: The general quality and finishing of the tiles LEVELS OF CONTROL: The tests, as indicated in Table 1 and at the levels of control specified therein, shall be carried out on the whole production of the factory covered by this scheme and appropriate records and charts maintained in accordance with paragraph 2 above. All the production which conforms to the Indian Standard and covered by the licence shall be marked with the standard mark. CONTROL UNIT: For the purpose of this scheme all the tiles of same size manufactured from same consignment of raw materials under identical conditions in a week shall constitute a control unit. All the tiles taken for test shall satisfy the requirements of the specification for acceptance of the control unit. If any tile fails to satisfy the requirements of any test, another sample consisting of twice the number of tiles tested initially, shall be taken from the same control unit and tested. If there is any failure to satisfy the requirements of test on these samples, control unit from which the tiles have been selected shall not be marked 7. All the raw materials used in the manufacture of tiles shall be accompanied by test certificates from their suppliers for their conformity to the relevant Indian 8. In respect of all other clauses of the specification and at all stages of manufacture, the factory shall maintain appropriate controls and checks to ensure that their product conforms to the various requirements of the specification. 9. A few tiles from every day’s production shall be taken so as to form one sample.
