Principle

Triglycerides + H

O

Lipase mono + di-glycerides + Fatty acids Serum is incubated at 37C with an olive oil substrate buffered at pH 9.0. triglycerides will hydrolysed in presence of the olive oil by pancreatic lipase this cause :a decrease in the turbidity of the reaction mixture.*The decrease in absorbance is measured and reflects the activity of lipase in the sample.Slide3

Clinical Diagnosis

Elevation of LPS is used for:Diagnosis of pancreatic disease such as acute and chronic pancreatitis and obstruction of the pancreatic duct.Slide4
