Playtimes

Playtime is an important part of the day for many children and is often a very welcome break from the structure and routine of the classroom.

What is play?

Play is simply having fun, the spontaneous activity of children. Play encompasses many thingsā€”it can be done with the body (running, jumping, dancing); the mind (fantasy play);props (building blocks, pushing a toy); and words (jokes, singing). Play is fuelled by curiosity and is driven by it. Play begins simply and grows more complex as the child grows.Playgrounds provide an opportunity for free play. Free play differs from the structured play ofplaytime or organized sports and games. Playground free play allows children to play any way theychoose, supported by a wide range of structures and spaces. Free play allows the child to exploreaccording to his or her natural tendencies, and allows them to learn from one another and tointeract with a wide range of age groups.Slide3

Myton Park School Family

We are a family in school and we must treat each other with respect. The children are encouraged to follow our rules and to learn to get along and to play together.

Our playground rules have been developed in partnership with the children, their families and staff in school.

Our playground buddies and staff work hard to make sure that playtime is a positive experience for the children. We are very aware that some children find playtime a challenging time, so we have lots on offer for those who may feel like a little more structure or enjoy sports.

We have equipment that allows the children to play with balls, hoops, skips with throwing, catching and team work all being part of what we do.

We have a stage area to allow the children to perform and explore, as well as a collection of benches for quiet time and chat.

Our Sports crew also work to ensure an exciting array of games are available to be enjoyed throughout the year. Our playground buddies help with a game of the week, which we learn in Monday Assemblies when we often think about how to be good friends and we learn the games together..Myton Park School FamilySlide5

Games we play

Please do take a look at the rules our buddies have created to explain the games we play.
