Biography
Dr
. Yuyuan Zhao is
the Head of Centre for Materials and Structures at the School of Engineering, the University of Liverpool, UK.He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM
).
He
serves on the Editorial Board of Powder Metallurgy, the official journal of the European Powder Metallurgy Association
.
He
obtained his BEng and MSc degrees from Dalian University of Technology, and DPhil from Oxford University.Slide4
Research Interests
He pioneered the Sintering and Dissolution Process (SDP) for manufacturing porous
aluminium
and further invented the Lost Carbonate Sintering (LCS) process, which has been commercialised for mass production of porous metals. His current research is focused on the manufacture, characterization and applications of porous metals and metal matrix syntactic foams, with emphasis on
mechanical, thermal, electrochemical and acoustic
properties.
He
has published over
90
papers in the processing,
characterisation
and modelling of particulate, porous and composite materials.
