It was established
2 on 1 July 20 15 by Act of the Minister
on 1 July 20 15 by Act of the Minister of Interior N o. 32/2015 as a unit with nation - wide competency. It succeeded former Department of Education of Police Presidium (police headquarters) and six months later it took over Police Training Centers including their all capacities and assets , for merl y managed by the Ministry of Interior itself. Picture N o. 1 2 This has been the m ost s ignificant change ever in the field of police education and training and for the first time in modern history Police of the Czech Republic was responsible for its own education and training. Police of the Czech Republic h as become “Learning Organization ”. The reform elevated the importance of professional dev elopment of police personnel and civil employees and placed the field of education and training directly under the 1 st Deputy of Police President (see picture N o. 1) . The tasks of the U nit range from conducting basic police course for new recruits, direction and coordination of compulsory in - service training, co nducting and coordination of further vocational education including senior and leadership courses. Police Education and Training Unit´s D irectorate is located in Prague. Further , the unit cons ists of three training centers in six different locations throughout the Czech Republic (see picture N o . 2) . Total strength of the unit is 450 police officers and civil employees. Picture N o. 2
