2. There are many Reasons Why you may want to take a course outside the school day.You may want to get ahead in credits, but remember you still have to have 4 courses your senior year. If you technically need only 2, you still have to sign up and complete 4.You may need to take a course because you want to take more electives. Examples are: choir, band, systematics, art. You would like to improve a grade of a course you already took.You love school and gaining knowledge!
3. What are my options?DV ONLINE and Pathways
4. What is DV ONLINE ?DV Online is a program that is offered all year. It gives you the option to do credit recovery, grade improvement and take more electives or core classes online outside the school day. It does cost $175 per half credit during the summer. During the school year if you do not have 6 courses in your schedule it is free. However, if you do have 6 courses it will cost $175.Semester long courses and Fast Track (shorter courses) are available.Be sure to contact your COUNSELOR when you sign up we need to be sure you are signing up for the correct class. You are responsible for signing up for your class and returning the contract to your counselor. You can return your contract to your counselor by sending a PDF through e-mail or you can drop it with our secretary in the counseling office. Once you return the contract to your counselor they will approve your course.
5. What is PATHWAYS?During each semester Pathways courses offer 2 sessions and 1 session in the summer. Each session offers two blocks, that way you could possibly earn 1 course credit each semester and in the summer.Courses are free and fill up fast!You will see your COUNSELOR to discuss the course you are taking and fill out the registration form, signed on both sides. Then return the registration form to your counselor. Once you turn in your registration form your counselor will approve your class.

8. Are there other options?We do have other options for you listed on our WEB PAGE.Please see your COUNSELOR if you find a school outside of DVUSD you would like to take your class at. We need to be sure DVUSD will accept the credit. You are only allowed to take 3 full credits outside of the DVUSD school district.

Helpful hintsPay attention to deadlines so you do not have to pay a late fee and you class gets approved on time.E-mail your counselor with any questions.Don’t just sign up for a class talk with your counselor to be sure it is the correct classONLINE is NOT easier. You have to keep up with assignments by logging on every day! Meeting deadlines is important.Talk to other students who have taken online and Pathways, make sure you are ready for that responsibility.
