Ragupathy K, Ridout A*, Cawley N, Iqbal P, Alloub MDepartment of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Introduction1-10% of females presenting with PMB will have endometrial cancerRisk is reduced by a factor of 10 if endometrial thickness is «4mmOur aimsIs endometrial sampling feasible in women presenting with PMB assessed to have thin endometrium? What is the incidence of endometrial carcinoma in this cohort of women?

I: Present with PMB

II: TV ultrasound assessment

III: Endometrial sampling

Result 671 women attended RAC with PMB166/671 found to have «4mm endometrial thickness 112 women underwent endometrial sampling (washings or biopsy) 72 women (64%) had adequate samples No cases of hyperplasia or malignancy were reported

Conclusions In women presenting with PMB and assessed to have thin endometrium, washings are a more reliable method sampling than endometrial biopsy. In this group, all adequate histology was reported as benign; a reassuring statistic when counselling women in gynaecology rapid access clinic.
