Makeover Spicy Chicken Burgersand Chips

Q I love spicy chicken burgers and chips, but I am going healthy how can I make them healthier? Kate HochuliA Spicy Chicken Burgers and chips are not the healthiest meal, but there are many ways to make them better for you. By replacing the chicken mince with lean chicken mince will reduce some of the fat. You could also add lots more salad and bake the chips instead of frying them.

Spicy Chicken Burgers and ChipsMakes 2Prep: 20min Cook: 20min250g lean chicken mince 12g packet of taco seasoning1 garlic glove 30g quick oats1 small carrotOlive oil – cooking spray¼ cup of low – fat mayonnaise2 mixed grain – high fibre burger buns¼ iceberg lettuce1 avocado1 tomato2 slices low – fat cheese2 potatoes

Step 1 Combine mince, taco seasoning, oats and half the garlic in a large bowl. Divide into two equal proportions. Shape each into a burger shape. Step 2 Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Spray patties with olive oil spray and add to pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes each side or until golden brown and cooked.Step 3 Cut up potatoes, spray with olive oil spray, sprinkle with rosemary and cook on 200°C until golden brown.Step 4 Combine mayonnaise and remaining garlic in a bowl. Top bases of buns with lettuce, tomato, cheese and avocado. Drizzle with mayonnaise and serve with potato chips.
