Now that you are in the site, please update your info at the bottom of the "My Stuff" tab. Why am I asking you to do all of this? Apollo services are provided by the National Order. It is a great tool for the flight to share news, review old editions of The Windsock, advertise events, and look up contact info for your fellow Daedalians. Dig into the site. Great stuff. In addition, we will begin using Apollo for one-click reservations starting with our March 2015 meeting. You will receive an email reminder (if your contact info is updated) prior to the RSVP cutoff. Easy! It will certainly save Charlie Baumann some time AND allow us to makealternative menu selections. In the meantime, you can still call 210-258-4143 or emailreservations@stinsonsflight.org but once you log onto Apollo, you won't want to go back to the "old way." Maj Kristian "Chop" Thiele is the Chief of Weapons and Tactics for 149 FW, Lackland AFB. He is a highly decorated combat fighter pilot and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. Maj Thiele has 10+ years as an F-16 flying and academic instructor teaching all aspects of tactical execution as well as multi-service and coalition integration. Recognized expert and published author driving F-16 and Combat Air Force Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures. He has led several process improvement initiatives culminating in over $1.5 million in yearly savings to the government and has planned and coordinated all aspects of two overseas deployments of F-16s and personnel.Slide2

Stinson's Flight’s first supper meeting of 2015 on the last Tuesday of January was the most entertaining and informative I’ve attended since becoming a member of our Flight two plus years ago. My opinion is based upon the absolutely awesome presentation by our guest speaker, Captain John "Bishop" DiFebo. To portray Bishop as unique is an enormous understatement. He enlisted; earned his commission and wings; flew F-16s for four years; and then transitioned to the MQ-9A Reaper, an armed, multi-mission, medium-altitude, long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) used primarily for intelligence-collection and secondarily against dynamic execution targets (more at http://www.af.mil/AboutUs/FactSheets/Display/tabid/224/Article/104470/mq-9-reaper.aspx). He is currently an RPA instructor pilot assigned to the 558th FTS at Randolph AFB.Bishop rolled up his flight suit sleeves and proceeded to energize and educate all of us without notes, a script, and no visual aids other than his hands. We were enlightened as he contrasted his observations and experiences piloting manned and unmanned aircraft. The Q&A reconvened after the formal meeting was adjourned. My own personal conclusion is that these young RPA pilots are just as much pioneers as our Daedalian forebears. Very well done, Bishop! Break, break, new subject. One of the few things I think that we can do better is to communicate and keep as many of our 400 plus members well informed more efficiently. As I hope most of you realize after my year as Vice Flight Captain, I am a big fan of Apollo. National Headquarters has provided the Flights of the Order with a great tool. We need to use it more than we have in the past. I ask for your support and cooperation with this effort. This year is important for Stinsons Flight. In addition to our usual activities and events, we are the host flight for the National Convention May 28-31. Please plan to attend as many events as possible.
