SIGDSA Workshop Objective

Provide participants a forum to learn and discuss curricula strategies, learn about resources and provide exercises on data analytics and big data curricula. Insights into the

program development from both a Business College and University level are provided.

In addition, the workshop will include

. These methods have been used and incorporated at both Appalachian State and University of Arkansas. All

Each week will deliver content Monday through Thursday for ~45 minutes

~15 Minutes of a video lecture focusing on the theory and goal

~25 Minutes of exercises to apply what they learned

~10 Minutes show and tell directed exercise with lab video and follow along

~15 On your own challenge assignment with clear goals, but less direction

~5 Minutes review of key concepts including sharing solution to challenge assignment (video)

A project will open on Friday to complete over the weekend. The purpose of the project is to tie all the learning from the week together by doing some applied work on realistic data. The goal is for them to spend 2-3 hours of focused time on the project.
