Why Should We Use A Sulfate Free Shampoo: Transcript
Do you know what a sulfate is and why its bad for you your hair and your scalp The answer might make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up Put simply a sulfate is an extremely convenient cleaning agent commonly used in conventional bottles of shampoo While there are many different types of sulfates their main purpose is to create a lathering bubbling effect that makes it easier to clean your hair and remove dirt oil and buildup from your scalp That doesnt sound too bad your hair will be really really clean right. After a quick walk through the hair care isle at your local store, something caught your eye. In fact, you’re noticing it on more and more bottles of shampoo and conditioner: A sign or sticker on the bottle that says “SULFATE FREE”.
But what is a sulfate? Why is it important that your hair care products are sulfate free?
Sulfates are chemicals used as cleansing agents, and until recently, could be found in quite a lot of bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The two main types of sulfates used in hair care products are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate. There are some people who wash their hair every single day, and others who only wash their hair once a week. Why is it so different from person to person? Is there a trade secret to keeping your hair fresh and healthy between washes? Not exactly, but there are a few tips and tricks to follow that will help! Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference. There is nothing worse than the look and feel of oily hair. The problem is that it’s completely natural, caused by an over-active sebaceous gland. Sebum benefits the hair, making it smooth, hydrated and strong, so it won’t dry out or break, but too much sebum will make your hair look slick and greasy. Sometimes, you over produce sebum because of internal factors like hormones, but other times it can be because of your hair care and beauty routine. Luckily, there are a few simple ways to naturally combat oily hair! When you look at the list of ingredients on your bottles of shampoo and conditioner, how many do you actually recognise and understand? Most people pick and choose their hair care products based on the promises made on the front of the bottle, and never bother to read the ingredients on the back. That can be very harmful to your hair, because if the shampoo is full of synthetic cleaning agents, it will do more harm than good. If you don’t know what a “sulfate” is by now, your hair is in serious trouble. Put simply, sulfates are the key ingredient to making a shampoo bubbly. The two kinds of sulfates you’re most likely to find in your hair care products are sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate. When used in shampoo, sulfates cleanse all kinds of dirt, oil, product build-up and dead skin cells from your scalp, and washes it away with water, taking away the nutrients your hair needs to thrive. It’s time to take a closer look at your favourite products in order to make the best choices for your hair, and switch to a sulfate free shampoo. You don’t need to have a celebrity hairstylist to achieve beautiful hair! In fact, if you change up your hair care routine, you’ll have healthier, stronger and shinier hair in no time. From simple tips for natural hair repair to the perfect hair cleansing shampoo, here are 10 tips for natural shining and softer hair. Regular shampoo and clarifying shampoos are two completely different products, and it\'s ok if you didn’t already know that! Of course, now you’re thinking “But they both have shampoo in the name, how can they be different? What does a clarifying shampoo do?”. Great questions! Regular shampoo washes your hair and makes it clean, but a clarifying shampoo, like apple cider vinegar shampoo, is specially formulated to really deep clean your hair, by removing product and chemical build-up from your scalp and hair shaft. Some people are blessed with beautiful hair, already full of body, but for others, it can feel like a challenge to get even a touch of volume in your locks. What you need are some volume-building tricks. If your hair is struggling to hold a style, or if it’s looking limp and lifeless, or if your hair is just feeling weighed down, you are in immediate need of a volumizing shampoo. A volumizing shampoo can be used on all hair types and gives your hair an extra needed boost without weighing it down, and the best product to start with is a charcoal shampoo. It’s time to start thinking about your hair the way you think about your body: in order for it to thrive, it needs vitamins, minerals, nutrients and lots of care! If you want to have long, strong and beautifully healthy hair, the same rules need to apply. While your body absorbs minerals and nutrients from the foods you eat, and this does affect your hair as well, your shampoo and conditioner have an even bigger impact. If your hair is dry, suffering from split ends, burnt from overusing heat styling tools or just feeling dull overall, you are in desperate need of a moisturising shampoo and a revitalizing shampoo. Luckily biotin can do both, bringing noticeable life back to your hair from the first wash. Do you remember when you first started washing your hair? Chances are, you wash your hair because you’ve always done it, but never really thought much about why. That’s ok, but if you truly want beautiful, healthy hair, it’s not as simple as wash, condition, repeat. A hair care routine needs to be delicately crafted to suit your hair colour, texture and length. In the end, your wash schedule, the products you use and way you style your hair will make your hair care routine as unique as you are. If you aren’t sure where to start, or where you can improve your hair care routine, don’t stress. There are so many small changes you can make to improve the health of your hair long term, but to start seeing those changes today, you should get your hands on a restorative shampoo or clarifying shampoo. Thinning hair is not something to be embarrassed about. In fact, it is much more common than you think, effecting both men and women alike. You might feel like there is nothing you can do to prevent your hair from continuous thinning, but you’re wrong! First, try and identify what is the cause of your hair thinning. In reality, hair thinning can be caused by a multitude of factors, including but not limited to: family history, hormonal changes, medical conditions, a side effect of supplements, stress, certain hair styles or harsh treatments, age, weight and poor nutrition. Although there are many common causes for hair thinning, it’s not always easy to pinpoint the exact cause of why this is happening to your beautiful hair. Luckily, even if you are experiencing hair thinning due to genetics, there is one important thing you can do to help prevent and fight against hair thinning, while strengthening your locks… Grab a bottle of the best shampoo for thinning hair: natural biotin shampoo. You might be surprised to learn what does an itchy scalp and an oily scalp have in common: They’re both signs of a scalp imbalance. A scalp imbalance can happy to anyone at any time in their hair cycle, but it is more likely to happen to you if you don’t look after your hair very well. External factors from the products you use and how much product you use, to internal factors, like changes in your hormone level, all play a part in scalp imbalance, and sometimes, a few causes can occur at the same time. You should be concerned about the health of your scalp when you feel tightness when you touch your scalp, see excessive dry flakes or red spots on your scalp, have very oily roots but flat, dull-looking hair, or start to experience hair loss. The good news is that you can easily rebalance your scalp. Start by switching to a natural shampoo and conditioner. You not only want the best shampoo for oily hair to help keep your locks clean, but one that will help invigorate your scalp to bring life back to your gorgeous locks, while soothing your scalp. How many strands of your hair fall out in a day? Haircare experts say losing up to 100 strands is normal, but anything more than that could be a sign that you’re losing your hair. Don’t be alarmed, because hair loss is extremely common, but of course, that doesn’t make it any less frustrating or embarrassing. While it’s no surprise that hair loss affects both men and women alike, statistics show it happens to 1/3 of the global population, and it tends to be more common in men. If you already put so much time and effort in finding the right shampoo for your hair type and needs, the same must be done for your conditioner too. It should come down to a lot more than just picking up the same brand and scent to match your current bottle of shampoo. Using the right conditioner is important because it will help moisturize your hair and prevent future damage.
