The key to healthy, clean hair starts with what you’re putting on it and how you treat it. With the use of organic shampoos and conditioners, and a few other simple tricks, everyday can be a great hair day. Some commercially manufactured shampoos target specific hair types, and others claim to tackle issues such as greasy hair and dandruff. Despite these great claims, and celebrity endorsements, a lot of real people are trying these products, and are left dissatisfied with the results. Trying to find a shampoo and conditioner that ticks all the boxes can be an exhausting task. That’s where all-natural shampoos and conditioners come in. When trying to choose the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair, you’ll notice how ingredients vary from product to product, brand to brand. Each bottle is unique, promising the right combination to help your hair combat frizziness, increase volume and shine or boost natural hair growth. But how do you know if it is the right bottle for you? Do you typically run out of shampoo before your conditioner? If so, perhaps you’re using your conditioner wrong. Conditioners are great for adding moisture to your locks, making your hair smooth, shiny and more manageable. There isn’t a ‘right way’ to wash your hair, but there sure is a right way to get the most out of your conditioner. Using the proper techniques will make all the difference to the health of your hair. After a quick walk through the hair care isle at your local store, something caught your eye. In fact, you’re noticing it on more and more bottles of shampoo and conditioner: A sign or sticker on the bottle that says “SULFATE FREE”.
But what is a sulfate? Why is it important that your hair care products are sulfate free?
Sulfates are chemicals used as cleansing agents, and until recently, could be found in quite a lot of bottles of shampoo and conditioner. The two main types of sulfates used in hair care products are Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Once you decide to grow your hair, it can feel like forever before you actually notice a difference in your length. And when you cut or trim your ends, somehow it feels even longer for your hair to grow back to its previous length and then surpass it. Unfortunately, there isn’t a magic lotion that will give you long flowing locks overnight. The key to growing long, healthy hair is patience, and a little bit of TLC. It’s important to wash your hair, especially if you use a lot of styling products and heat tools. Shampoo can effectively remove dirt, oil and product build-up from scalp and revitalise your locks. How often you choose to wash your hair depends on your hair type and the kind of shampoo and conditioner you use. If your shampoo and conditioner is from a conventional brand, there’s a chance it is full of silicones, parabens or sulfates, and made from low-quality materials. Individually, they can each be harmful to your hair, but sometimes a combination of these ingredients are blended into a product that will cause severe damage to your hair, and tricks it into looking clean when it is not. Run your hands through your hair from root to tip, but pay close attention to your ends. How do they feel? Are they soft and smooth, or are they rough, frizzy and split? If your ends are on the damaged side, your hair is in immediate need of some hydration. Coloring your hair is not only a confidence booster, it can emphasize texture and add lustre to your hair. The only thing you need to consider after changing your hair color, is that you might need to change the hair care products you use as well. Shampoos and conditioners are made with your hair in mind, taking into account your color, the texture of your locks and what it needs the most to thrive. By changing your color, you must have a shampoo that will help maintain that color and provide your hair with essential nutrients after putting it through a chemical process. You’ll definitely want a sulfate free shampoo and maybe even a hair growth shampoo, to ensure your hair is healthy and strong. The trick is finding a product that can do both, but there is a well-known ingredient that can… Biotin! You don’t need to have a celebrity hairstylist to achieve beautiful hair! In fact, if you change up your hair care routine, you’ll have healthier, stronger and shinier hair in no time. From simple tips for natural hair repair to the perfect hair cleansing shampoo, here are 10 tips for natural shining and softer hair. How many different shampoos are you currently using? And no, different scents don’t count. If there is only a single bottle of shampoo in your shower, your hair is in big trouble and that care routine of yours is in desperate need of a revamp. For your hair to truly thrive, you should be alternating between at least two shampoos: a regular shampoo and a purifying shampoo. Purifying your hair is also known as detoxing, and it’s super important for your scalp. What you might not know is that it’s different from simply washing your hair with regular shampoo, and if you haven’t done it before, you’re in for a shocking surprise Do you remember when you first started washing your hair? Chances are, you wash your hair because you’ve always done it, but never really thought much about why. That’s ok, but if you truly want beautiful, healthy hair, it’s not as simple as wash, condition, repeat. A hair care routine needs to be delicately crafted to suit your hair colour, texture and length. In the end, your wash schedule, the products you use and way you style your hair will make your hair care routine as unique as you are. If you aren’t sure where to start, or where you can improve your hair care routine, don’t stress. There are so many small changes you can make to improve the health of your hair long term, but to start seeing those changes today, you should get your hands on a restorative shampoo or clarifying shampoo. How many strands of your hair fall out in a day? Haircare experts say losing up to 100 strands is normal, but anything more than that could be a sign that you’re losing your hair. Don’t be alarmed, because hair loss is extremely common, but of course, that doesn’t make it any less frustrating or embarrassing. While it’s no surprise that hair loss affects both men and women alike, statistics show it happens to 1/3 of the global population, and it tends to be more common in men.
