As the first period is about to end, there is a player on the ice with a suspected serious injury. Can any on ice official stop play?

Yes. Rule 2.6 (g) Note 1. Where there is suspicion that a player has sustained serious injury, any on ice official may stop play immediately.

Not permitted – a proper faceoff has not occurred.

A face-off is being conducted in the end zone. All line changes have been completed and the whistle was blown by the official to commence the face-off procedure. The official goes to drop the puck, but it slips out of her hand and flies over the players. Play is blown down immediately and the defending team tries to make a player change

Rule 4.1 (e) No time comes of the clock as the Major penalty is served first.

A player from Team A has just been assessed a 5 minute penalty for Head Contact plus a Game Misconduct. That same player was also assessed a minor penalty for tripping prior to the Head Contact infraction. Team B scores goal 1 minute into the power play. Does anytime come off the clock?

Rule 2.6 (c) Situation 3- Player must wear mandatory goaltender equipment (For Peewee and above, goaltender pads are mandatory) as covered by the rules, helmet, proper facial protection and stick. (Rule 3.3 (c), Rule 3.5 and Rule 3.6)

In a Peewee game, Team A has one goaltender dressed, and during the course of the game she gets injured What does the player from Team A who is going to dress as the goaltender need in order to be given full goaltender privileges

Rule 4.10 (a) 2- No. The player who shot the puck no longer had control of the puck. In order for a goal to be awarded the player must have both possession and control at the time of the infraction.

The goaltender has been removed from the ice and the opposing team obtains a breakaway in the attacking zone. She shoots the puck towards the open goal. A defending player throws her stick at the shot puck. Is this an awarded goal?

What are the options that the coach from Team B has?

At a stoppage of play, the goaltender from Team B asks the official if he may go to the bench in order to repair his goaltender mask. Can the referee grant permission for the goaltender to go to the bench?

Rule 2.6 (g) Situation 5 – If the injured player causes a delay in the resumption of play or the Trainer comes onto the ice, the injured player must leave the ice until play resumes.

During a stoppage in play it becomes apparent that a player from Team A is injured. Play was not stopped as a result of the injury. Does the player have to leave the ice?

Rule 8.3 (d) Situation 3 – When the teammate gains CONTROL of the puck.

The puck is shot from the attacking blue line by a player from Team A. A defender from Team B high sticks the puck and deflects to another player on Team B. Do you stop play immediately?

Rule 4.13 Situation 15 – In consultation with the Captain will choose a player who was on the ice at the time of the infraction to serve the penalty.

The official has signaled a delayed penalty to Team A. Once Team A has gained possession and control of the puck, play is stopped and the penalty procedure begins. During this process the official is unable to identify the offending player’s number. What is the officials next step?

Rule 4.9 (a) Situation 7- No, once the goaltender made contact with the puck causing the player to lose control, the player can no longer touch the puck.

On a Penalty Shot, as the player approaches the, the goaltender poke checks the puck, the puck bounces past the goaltender where the player regains the puck and scores. Is this a good goal?

Rule 10.2 (f)- When an infringement of any rule has been committed by players of both teams, the ensuing face-off shall be at a place where stoppage of play occurred.

At a stoppage of play in the attacking zone, the official assess a double minor for Head Contact to the attacking team and a minor penalty for roughing to the defending team. Where is the ensuing face-off?

Rule 9.8 Situation 5- Assess a Minor penalty to the player throwing the stick, and assess a Minor penalty for “illegally receiving a stick”, to the player who picks up the stick.

Team B is killing a penalty when Team B defenceman loses his stick. Another player from Team B notices this and throws his stick to the defenceman who picks it up and continues to play. What is the correct call?

Rule 3.6 (f) Situation 21- A player is wearing the throat protector in a manner that is careless or clearly not within the intended guidelines, the team shall receive one warning and any subsequent infraction by same team will be penalized. Officials are encouraged to deliver the warning directly to the coach.

During the first period, the official notices that one of the players from Team B is wearing an improper throat protector. What course of action does the official take?
