Presentation Transcript

1. the Microscope

2. Types of Microscopes- Compound microscope

3. - Dissecting microscope

4. - Scanning electron microscope (SEM)

5. - Transmission electron microscope (TEM)

6. The compound microscopeA microscope : It is a tool that is used to study things that can not be seen with the naked eye. Microscope Parts

7. (Ocular lens)1- Eye pieceContains the magnifying lens you look through, and may be provide with pointer to point on indicated parts from the body we need to exam. They are usually 10X , 15 X or 20X power.

8. body tube2- body tubeIts hold the eye piece

9. arm3- ArmSupports the body tube and it hold the microscope.

10. revolving nosepiece4- Revolving nosepieceHolds high & low power objectives;and can be rotated tochange magnification.

11. 5- Objective lenses

12. objective lensWe can divided it to:A: Low power objective (L.P)provide the least magnification usually it power is (4.0 X) and (10X) powers.B: High power objective (H.P) provide the most magnification usually it power is (40 X).

13. C: Immersion oil magnification usually (100 X),it is used only with oil drop.

14. coarse adjustment knob6- coarse adjustmentmoves the body up & down for focus it is used with(L.P)objective

15. fine adjustment knob7- fine adjustmentUsed to sharpen the image, moves the body tube slightly, It is used with (H.P) objective.

16. 8- CondenserIts condense the light.

17. stage9- StageSupports the microscope slide.

18. stage clips10- Stage clipsHold the microscope slide in place.

19. diaphragm11-DiaphragmRegulates the amount of light which enter the body.

20. 12-Mirror Reflects the light upward through the diaphragm to the objective & the eye piece.

21. base13- BaseSupports the microscope.

22. HOW TO KEPP YOUR MICROSCOPEAlways carry the microscope with both hands, holds the arm with one hand & place the other hand under the stage.Place the microscope on the table gently with the arm towards you and the stage facing a light source.Never touch the lenses with your fingers.Only use special lens paper to clean lenses. Before putting the microscope away, always turn the low power objective in to place over the stage.be sure that the distance between the low power and the stage is about 2-3 centimeters.

23. To figure the total magnification of an image that you are viewing through the microscope is really quite simple. To get the total magnification take the power of the objective (4X, 10X, 40x) and multiply by the power of the eyepiece, usually 10X. Total Magnification:
