Gorillas

◦The gorillas live in the Tropical Rainforest biome.

◦Gorillas have no natural enemies or predators, yet these peaceful creatures are very endangered because of humans

◦It is a herbivore.

◦Their arms are much longer than their legs, and they can use the backs of their fingers like extra feet when they walk

◦Gorillas have a symbiotic relationship with a non-pathogenic intestinal flora.

◦A group of gorillas living together is called a “troop

TIGERS

◦The tiger lives in most of the forest biomes and also in mangrove swaps.◦Tigers are at the top of their food chain so they do not have many predators. However they do have the dangers of people.◦It is a

carnivore

◦Tigers are recognized by their orange, black, and white stripe pattern. The tiger is a stalk-and-ambush hunter, and the stripes are good camouflage in the long grass. Dark stripes on a pale background break up the tiger’s outline as it lies in wait for prey to come near. ◦A symbiotic relationship with the tiger would be a tiger and a antelope, the tiger kills the antelope and gets food from it and the antelope gets nothing in return.◦ The “white tigers” found in some zoos are not albino but rather the white-and-tan color variation with blue eyes (true albinos have pink eyes). http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-tiger.htmlSlide3

LEOPARDS

◦The leopard lives in every biome.

◦Predators occasionally eat little cubs but they are usually not bothered by other animals

◦It is a carnivore.

◦ They have flower-shaped spots on their backs called rosettes, with a solid edge and no dot in the center◦The leopard has a symbiotic relationship with its prey.◦Unlike other cats, leopards are strong swimmers and are one of the few cats that like water.◦http://www.denverzoo.org/downloads/dzoo_amur_leopard.pdf

RHINOS

◦Rhinos can be found in the rainforest biome and also in the grassland biomes.

◦Their main natural predator

are humans.

◦It is a herbivore.◦Don't be fooled by a rhino's lumbering size—a black rhino can thunder along at 40 miles per hour◦It has a symbiotic relationship with tick eating bird◦White rhinos have a hump of muscle on their necks and s.houlders to hold up a head that can weigh 800 to 1,000 pounds

CAMELS

◦They live in the desert biomes.

◦The one humped camel has no predators but the two humped camel does. The two humped camels natural predators are the humans and wolves.

◦It is

a herbivore.◦The dromedary camel has one hump and the Bactrian camel has two. They store fat, not water. The fat becomes an energy source which they use when their food sources are low.

◦Camels have a symbiotic relationship with humans.

◦ Do camels really spit? They aren’t actually spitting—it’s more like throwing up! They bring up the contents of their stomachs, along with saliva, and project it out. This is meant to surprise, distract, or bother whatever the camel feels is threatening

it

ORANGUTAN

◦They can be found in the rainforest biome.

◦Their natural predators are leopards and humans.

◦It is a herbivore.

◦Scientists like to explain the orangutan’s unique approach to problem solving with this example: If a chimp is given an oddly shaped peg and several different holes to try to put it in, the chimp will immediately try shoving the peg in various holes until it finds the hole that the peg fits in. But an orangutan will approach the challenge differently. It will stare off into space, or even scratch itself with the peg. Then, after a while, it will offhandedly stick the peg into the correct hole while looking at something else that has caught its interest.◦Orangutans are incredibly smart. ◦ http://

BATS

◦Their main biome is the tropical rainforest.

◦The bat does not really have any natural predators besides humans.

◦It is a omnivore.

◦The micro bats use echolocation to find their insect meals. They make high-pitched sounds that bounce off objects and return to the bat as echoes. Bats in flight can distinguish the difference in sound between a tree, your head, and a tasty grasshopper◦They have a symbiotic relationship with the vegetation and trees and flowers by pollenating them.◦ A mother bat can locate her pup by its scent and sound out of millions in a roost◦ http://

PEACOCKS

◦The peacocks biome is the rain forest.

◦The peacocks do not really have any natural predators .

◦It is an omnivore.

◦Not only are peacocks “proud,” they are also loud! Peafowl have 11 different calls, but it is the peacocks that really yell.◦It has a symbiotic relationship with the animals and insects it eats.◦ Peacocks are mentioned in the Bible as one of the most precious items brought from Asia by King Solomon's ships◦ http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-peafowl.htmlSlide9

Frogs

◦They live in the rainforest biome.◦They do not have any natural predators.◦It is an omnivore.◦ The deadly poison is found in the frog's skin, making it too toxic to touch. Just a tiny drop can kill the birds and small

mammals.

◦Does it have a symbiotic relationship with any other species

◦Poison frogs are often called poison dart frogs because the Choco Indians in South America use the frogs' poison to coat the tips of the blow darts they use for hunting.◦http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbytes/t-poison_frog.html#PhotosSlide10

MEERKATS

◦The Meerkat lives in the desert biome

◦They do not have one specific natural predator but very many,

It is an omnivore◦Meerkats live in groups of up to forty members in them.◦Does it have a symbiotic relationship with any other

species

Meerkats

are known for their daring diet: they are able to kill and eat venomous snakes and scorpions without being hurt, as they have become immune to the

venom.

FALCONS

What biome the animal can be found in

◦People are their biggest threat

◦It is a carnivore so it eats meat.◦A Falcon has razor- sharp talons.◦It has a symbiotic relationship with the red breasted goose.◦There are more than 60 species of falcons.Info From:http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/animals/birds/peregrine-falcon/Slide12

KANGAROOS

◦Desert and forest biomes.

◦Besides humans

and wild dogs called dingoes, kangaroos face few natural predators. Heat, drought, and hunger due to vanishing habitat

are the biggest danger kangaroos face.◦It is a herbivore.◦Fighting kangaroos kick opponents, and sometimes bite.◦The kangaroo's symbiotic relationship is with a parrot. The parrot pecks the ticks off the kangaroo's fur.

◦Kangaroos

possess powerful hind legs, a long, strong tail, and small front legs. They’re the biggest of all

marsupials,

standing over 6 feet (2 meters)

tall.

HIPPOPOTAMUS

◦Hippos can be found in the savanna biome.

◦The Hippopotamus or Hippo’s natural predators are lions, crocodiles, and people

It is a herbivore.◦The Hippopotamus’ defense in fights are often using their large mouths and sharp teeth or if in a group they trample over the predator or danger.◦The Oxpecker and the Hippopotamus have a symbiotic relationship. ◦New born hippos often climb on their mothers backs to rest.Info From:
