Is it important for us to know the author’s purpose before we start reading? Do you read your social studies book the same way you read The Watson’s Go to Birmingham? Do you read the instructions to a game differently than you read a comic book? Do you read an article about sharks differently than you read a cook book? Why?

Can an author have more than one purpose for writing their novel? Did it entertain you? Did you relax and just enjoy the story? Did you laugh, or feel sad? Did the author try to make you do or feel something? Did you feel differently about the subject after you read the novel?

What is the purpose? How do you know? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdPXQLrueRg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiQVg1cFPlE

Do you throw out old newspapers and soda pop cans? Landfills are becoming entirely too crowded with material that can be reused. Recycle! It helps the Earth. Back in the day, tomatoes were considered deadly… Now, we use tomatoes in many dishes every day. The bald eagle is a national symbol of the United States. The bald eagle is a rare bird. No one should vote for Mayor Curtis in this election.
