Separate the stiff diaphragmwith flexible surround from the nonchill rim. Start bychestpiece. Smooth the surface of the flexible part ofthe diaphragm by rubbing your finger around the edgeof the diaphragm,making sure that the flexible portionfits into the groove of the chestpiece. Engage thegroove of the rim around the chestpiece edge at onepoint and hold it in place with your thumbs. Slowly rollthe rim around and over the chestpiece edge by usingboth thumbs,moving in opposite directions around theVisually inspect the edge where the diaphragm engagesthe rim for uniform containment. If necessary,removethe rim,smooth the surface,and repeat applicationConversion to Traditional Bell:The pediatric side of the chestpiece can be converted toa traditional bell. After removing the tunablediaphragm,replace it with the nonchill bell sleeveincluded in the spare parts box.
