Universal Screener The universal screener is given to ALL students. It is the first step in identifying the students who are at-risk for failure.
Diagnostic Tool(s) These tools determine specific needs for the identified students who are at-risk for failure. This allows the teacher to select a targeted intervention designed to fill the academic gaps that prevent a student from being successful in the rigorous core curriculum.
Intervention Evidence -based interventions are matched to identified students’ skill deficits. Interventions are not simply re-teaching or practicing core instruction, but are designed to be increasingly intensive with the goal of filling the academic gap.
Progress Monitoring Progress monitoring is used to assess identified students’ progress in those areas in which they were identified by universal screening and/or diagnostic as being at-risk for failure.
