Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL)Who We Are The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a federally funded research and development center and NASA HQ NASA Management Office in

Pasadena

California.

The JPL is

operated

by

California

Institute of Technology (Caltech) for NASA. The

Laboratory's

primary function is the construction and operation of planetary robotic spacecraft, though it also conducts Earth-orbit and astronomy missions.

JPL is

also responsible for operating NASA's Deep Space Network.

The

laboratory's major active projects

consist of, but not limited to the following:

Mars

Science Laboratory mission (which includes the Curiosity rover),

Cassini–Huygens

mission orbiting

Saturn

Mars

Exploration Rover

Opportunity

Mars

Reconnaissance

Orbiter

Dawn

mission to the dwarf planet Ceres and asteroid

Vesta

Juno

spacecraft orbiting

Jupiter

NuSTAR

X-ray telescope, and the Spitzer Space Telescope.

JPL is also

responsible for managing the JPL Small-Body Database, and provides physical data and lists of publications for all known small Solar System bodies.

The JPL's Space Flight Operations Facility and Twenty-Five-Foot Space Simulator are designated National Historic Landmarks.

serves as the conduit between JPL and subcontractors and/or companies seeking procurement opportunities.
