Ohio’s medical marijuana law, HB 523, took effect.
Akron passes a one year moratorium on medical marijuana.
Rules for medical marijuana cultivators must be adopted by the Ohio Dept. of Commerce
Applications for cultivators will be available.
Provisional licenses for cultivators will likely be issued.
Rules for processors, testing laboratories, dispensaries, patients and caregivers, and physicians must all be adopted by respective agencies.
Akron’s moratorium would expire.

Can be rejected based on a number of specific factors: safety, economic welfare, odor, concentration of facilities, closeness to other medical / pharmaceutical facilities, as well as traditional conditional use criteria. Incorporates state provision banning all facilities within 500-feet of schools, churches, public parks, public playgrounds, and public libraries.
