Djurovic Paintings
What can you see?
How would you describe the paintings?
Slide4The mysterious paintings by the Serbian artist Goran Djurovic also influenced the design, costume and choreographic images within all the scenes.
UNKNOWN SECRETS
Slide5The costume colour palette for Scene 3 is more bland than the palette for Scenes 1 & 2. Earlier in the work Amy wore a bright pink jumper over the top of her dress, David’s shirt was yellow and Dave wore an elaborate coat. Now, the colour is stripped down and washed away, and the extra layers removed, leaving just a mix of green and blue tones. They are not block colours, but more of a dip dye effect, looking as though paint has been dripped down the fabric. The striped backdrops in Goran
Djurovic’s
paintings were a heavy influence for these designs
With
the exception of Laura’s costume, everything was shop bought to give an idea of the everyday. Anna Jones then painted each costume with fabric paint to create the impression that the dancers were melting into the backdrop.
Slide6What can you remember about the costume that Dave wears?
Slide7AMY
The costumes are an eclectic mix between late 50’s and 80’s in cut to achieve a largely timeless feel
Slide8DAVID
A loose fitting open necked short sleeved shirt . It is mainly off white with drips of green on the left and blue on the right. The shirt is not tucked in but flows freely. Loose fitting blue/grey trousers
