Slide14

Business of the church is to bring sinners to Jesus.

We should be placing great emphasis on reaching the lost.Slide15

THERE WAS A CROWD

Mark 2:2

The place was full of people.

1. A Few Observations:Slide16

Mark 2:2

“And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them” Slide17

Lets focus on the four that brought the sick of the palsy to Jesus.Slide18

THE FOUR WERE COMMITTED

Mark 2:4

2. A Few Observations:Slide19

Mark 2:4

“And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay”Slide20

They could not gel in for the multitude. Now they’ve messed up--- tore a portion of the roof off. Slide21

1 Pet 2:23-25

“Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but

committed

himself to him that

judgeth

righteously: Who his own self bare…Slide22

1 Pet 2:23-25

…our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going…Slide23

1 Pet 2:23-25

…astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls?”Slide24

2 Tim 1:12

“For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day”Slide25

2

Cor

5:19

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath

committed

unto us the word of reconciliation”Slide26

He that

committeth

sin is of the devil

!Slide27

1 John 3:8

He that

committeth

sin is of the devil

; for the devil

sinneth

from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil”Slide28

1 John 3:4

“Whosoever

committeth

sin

transgresseth

also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law”Slide29

John 8:34

“Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever

committeth

sin is the servant of sin”Slide30

The four were committed to doing saving a soul.

Others are committed to serving sin.Slide31

THERE ARE THE CARELESS

Mark 2:5-7

3. A Few Observations:Slide32

Mark 2:5

“When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there,…Slide33

Mark 2:5

… and reasoning in their hearts. Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?” Slide34

Some are not very helpful toward God’s command to reaching the lost.

These four men thought about someone else besides themselves.Slide35

Psa

37:5

Commit

thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass”Slide36

Prov

16:3

Commit

thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established”Slide37

Psa

31:5

“Into

thine

hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth”Slide38

1 John 3:9

“Whosoever is born of God

doth not commit sin

; for his seed

remaineth

in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”Slide39

THERE ARE THE CRIPPLED

Mark 2:3

4. A Few Observations:Slide40

Mark 2:3

“And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four”Slide41

The people that should be reached are considered spiritually handicapped or crippled.Slide42

Open your eyes… the fields are white already unto harvest!Slide43

THERE ARE THE CRITICAL

Mark 2:6-7

5. A Few Observations:Slide44

Mark 2:6-7

“But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?” Slide45

The critical are not all dead yet!

We might as well get use to being criticized.

Note: If they criticized our Lord, why not us?Slide46

THERE ARE THE COMPASSIONATE

Mark 2:3

A Few Observations:Slide47

Mark 2:3

“And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four”Slide48

Though they are few thank God for them. Compassion is a great motivating power.Slide49

What are you willing to do to become a child of God?Slide50

All that matters is that you are a faithful child of God and prepared to meet Jesus Christ.Slide51

1 John 3:9

“Whosoever is born of God

doth not commit sin

; for his seed

remaineth

in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”Slide52

Rom 10:17

“So then

faith

cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”Slide53

Acts 3:19

Repent

ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”Slide54

Phil 2:11

“And that every tongue should

confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”Slide55

Gal 3:27

“For as many of you as have been

baptized into Christ have put on Christ

”Slide56
