Your Project Create a still life that is drawn with contour lines. Emphasize the most interesting area with color. BE SURE TO USE COLORED PENCIL SO THAT YOU CAN LAYER, BLEND, AND SHOW VALUE TECHNIQUES. Complimentary color pairings ONLY.Use pencil to create value scales on the area outside of your box (black & white)

To begin… Find a composition that works Make your composition (drawing) take up the entire page Have your items run off of the page to create interest Sketch at least 3 ideas before choosing a final ideaFORMATIVE DUE AT THE END OF CLASS

Directions Use your best composition from yesterday Pencil draw the still life using only contour lines. Draw only what you see! Draw BIG and draw LIGHTLY!Use a “viewfinder” to choose the most interesting part of your still life. Meaning find the best/most interesting area of your image and make this the focal point. Using a ruler, create a box around the area you plan to emphasize with color. Use colored pencil to shade the positive space within the emphasized area. Use the complimentary color to shade the negative space within the emphasized area. Add value to the remaining area (outside of your colored square) to finish your drawing Erase all smudges or stray lines. Turn in your work.
