Key Policy initiatives
In the
Strategic Plan of Bangladesh Police (BP) 2007 -2010 ,
targeted to recruit additional
3000
women police.(WP).By this time BP recruited more then 3000 WP. The % of WP was less then
2 % in 2007
now
increased into 5.63%.
A all women Battalion was established in 2011 by BP called
Armed Police Battalion
. The Commandant of the Battalion is a women.
Two contingent
of women police were sent to UN Peace keeping mission. In each batches there were
100 WP and the Commandant were women.
33% seats were reserved
for women in the Community Policing Forums.
