As you have probably heard from your students, there is a lot going on at the school! The long awaited playground is being installed͖ plans for Bingo, the Spring Dance, Sci- ence Fair, and Talent Show are underway! If you haven’t already, please consider how you might help DTES in prepara�on for these ac�vi�es. Volunteering might include do- na�ng snacks, drinks, volunteering your �me at the event, etc. Many hands help make the work light. Contact the event chair or myself if you need help in iden�fying what you can do. Volunteering sends a wonderful message to your students – school is important, let’s be a part of it, let’s make it a be�er place, let’s con�nue to build our community, the list goes on. The theme of the show is “Huskies Under The Sun.” Let’s shake o� the winter blues and take a step towards summer with the talented students at Dominion Trail! We are looking for a wide variety of acts! Tryouts are on Wednesday, March 20 at 4:30pm. All students are welcome to par�cipate, but must a�end the tryout and be at all rehearsals, with no excep�ons. Please see the �yer that came home with your child on March 1st for more informa�on. We are also looking for more volunteers to help with the show that involve di�erent levels of �me commitment. Ashburn Area Middle School/High School Rezoning The School Board is beginning a school a�endance zone review process a�ec�ng all Ashburn area middle and high schools and resident MS/HS students in an�cipa�on of the opening of Trailside MS and HS - 6 in the Fall of 2014 and HS - 8 in the Fall of 2015. Submi�ed by Brooks Berger, Parent Liaison Our Playground Equipment is Here! On Saturday, March 2nd star�ng at 9am, mulch will need to be distributed around our updated playground! ThatΖs right - the old Swedish gym (aka “monkey bars”) has been removed to make way for a new playset, along with a rock - climbing wall being placed in the middle of the exis�ng equipment! All of the new equipment was installed this week and the �nal step is the installa�on of a top - coat of 3Η of new mulch. We have elected to spread the mulch ourselves because it will save the PTA $1,000 on installa�on costs that can be put to great use elsewhere in our school. We need you! If you are interested in helping with the mulch installa�on on Saturday, March 2nd (tomorrow!) please contact Kara at Kara.bugan@verizon.net. Please note that we will need 4 volunteers to bring wheel- barrows for the mulch installa�on. This compe��on began Monday, February 4th and encourages students to use a Box Tops submission form. Each completed sheet will be entered into a weekly drawing with prizes ranging from gi� cards to fun school ac�vity prizes. Winners will be announced once per week in the a�ernoon announcements. TerraCycle will recycle the empty glue containers and pay us 2 cents per item. Send in with your child any empty Elmer’s glue s�cks or bo�les that you may have at home or bring them to the school o�ce so we can put them to good use! (This is for Elmer’s products only, please.)
