Obama Administration established the White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities (SC2) on March 15, 2012.

SC2 Council facilitates work between nineteen (19) federal agencies and local city leaders as they implement locally driven economic visions.Slide4

Based on Four (4) Components:

Fellows and AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA)

Economic Visioning Challenge

Increase federal-local collaboration

All North Central Health District residents will live, learn, work and play in healthy environments.

Objective:

By 2017, increase the number of North Central Health District-area workplaces that support breastfeeding families.Slide9

How we met our objective?

Developed mother friendly worksite breastfeeding policy template.

Distributed over 700 letters to community businesses, worksites, hospitality industries, schools, and daycares asking that they share their current written breastfeeding policies.

Promoted breastfeeding family friendly worksite policies among all of those businesses by inviting them to a breastfeeding informational session titled: “The Business Side of Breastfeeding”.Slide10
