LOCAL LODGE 1781 BULLETIN

MAY 2017

Vice President

As Vice President of Local Lodge 1781, I would like to start by thanking everyone that volunteers their time and lending a hand in all that we do. From the Executive board to the committees that help to enforce our contracts. All the way to the front-line membership and that is truly the boots on the ground at all levels. Some say that volunteers are seldom paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are PRICELESS! Thank you Chris LuskLL1781 Vice President

STORESA Storekeeper was held out of service and has now returned back to work with FULL BACK PAY. Our head count is at 309 F/T Storekeepers and 15 P/T. We are short 31 F/T Storekeepers. Our full head count should be at 340 FULL TIME STOREKEEPERS. Congratulations to Retirees, Tim Muhic, Robert Belasorio, Walter Mellinger and Lyna Sykes.

KIN CAREAs many of you know Kin Care has been an ongoing issue for our customer service and ramp service members. This matter was fought on all levels and escalated to our AGC’s Troy Rivera and Olu Ajetomobi who took the fight to Labor Relations AND WON!! We are pleased to report that as of May 1, 2017 the use of Kin Care will return to how is was used previously with all members who were affected being made whole. Please see a shop steward should you have any questions.

LOCAL LODGE 17811511 ROLLINS RD, BURLINGAME, CA

RAMP United is looking to hire (100-265 new Ramp service employees) on the Ramp . The grievance committee was successful in winning two IRM’s for attendance and both members are back to work. Five grievances have been paid for overtime by-passes. We are in the process of having upgrade supervisors bid/furlough seniority adjusted to reflect the 183 day limit per rolling year. Training for the Move Team will start this summer. Postings are coming soon with more information and qualifications. Q&A sessions will be set up for anyone interested or may have questions about the Move Team. No exact dates have been set, more information to follow.

FROM THE LOCALThe Local Lodge is undertaking some much needed upgrading and renovations. Previously the hall was painted and all the lights replaced. We’ve recently given the hall a major face lift by replacing the flooring which looks great. We are continuing to make improvements to the building by replacing exit signs, fire extinguishers and ceiling tiles. Please come to the next general meeting and see how nice your local looks.Slide2

STORES SAFETYSafety Shoe Allotment Based on Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Storekeeper Management is requiring all Storekeepers to wear safety shoes. As stated in our 2016-2021 Storekeeper Agreement, (Article 10, D, 4) The Company will provide all required personal protective equipment at no cost to the employee. Also, (Article 10, H, 4) The Company will reimburse each Storekeeper up to $52.00 annually. However, after meeting with the Managing Director, it has been agreed upon to continue to reimburse the increased amount of $80.00 to each Storekeeper annually. (The Managing Director for GSE and Facilities organization has agreed to honor the same shoe allowance agreement for all of our IAM

Strorekeepers

within their organization). For more information regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact your department Safety Representative, Shop Steward or myself at (650)634-5764.Daniel

FumarStores SafetyEAPChild Care Aware®, a program of Child Care Aware® of America, is funded by the Office of Child Care, or OCC. OCC is an office of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). OCC supports working families across the United States through child care fee assistance (subsidies). These subsidies are provided for children from birth to age 13. The assistance promotes children’s learning by improving the quality of child care programs. This is done in large part through the Child Care and Development Fund, or CCDF. CCDF is a federal block grant that OCC administers to states, tribes, and territories to support quality child care. States have a fair amount of flexibility in the use of these funds. They are able to set their own eligibility requirements and priorities.

OCC also works to create and implement child care policies designed to keep children safe in child care. Through these policies and the CCDF block grant, families can access quality child care. In addition, children are safe, healthy and learning in child care and providers receive support to operate quality programs.ChildCare.gov Project The CCDBG Reauthorization Act of 2014 includes a requirement to design and develop a National Website to disseminate publicly available child care consumer education information for parents. The information on the website will help parents access safe and quality child care services in their community, with a range of price options, that best suits their family’s needs. The Act also includes a requirement to design and develop a National toll-free Hotline to allow persons to report (anonymously if desired) suspected child abuse or neglect, or violations of health and safety requirements, by an eligible child care provider.

RAMP SAFETYIAM safety involvement is missing at SFO and it is in my opinion that it is needed once again. As the local IAM Ramp Safety Coordinator I pledge my commitment to making the ramp a safer place for all who have to venture onto it. When was the last time the IAM had a participant at a station safety meeting? It is time for the union to again be involved in safety at SFO. Eric
