Purposes of skits
THE MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE BOYS AND THE AUDIENCE IS TO HAVE FUN!!!
It’s always fun to ask each den to perform a skit or do a demonstration. It allows Scouts to showcase creativity while entertaining.
These performances
can
include: pantomimes
, sketches
,
short
plays, jokes, cheers and run-ons.
By practicing and
performing in these informal skits,
confidence
and leadership skills begin to
develop.
Working together as a den or pack to perform a skit encourages team work and incorporates many skills.
*Some Cub Scouts may want to just watch rather than take part in the skit. Ask them to handle the lights or offstage sound effects, or watch the time. Sometimes, playing a character who wears a mask or uses puppets helps lessen a boy's self-consciousness.Slide3
Purposes of songs
Singing with your den or pack promotes fellowship and togetherness.
It helps create an atmosphere for meetings by
choosing appropriate songs (serious, patriotic, inspirational, or
theme-related)
Action songs allow Scouts to move around and audience participation songs gets families and the audience involved.Slide4
Choosing the Right song and skit

-can use props, memorize lines, and motions
Also consider the size of your group. Smaller dens may consider telling jokes.
If you are performing at a Pack Night or Campfire please consider the amount of time allotted for each group.
Always use caution when choosing something for your group to perform. Make sure that it is not inappropriate or offensive.Slide5

THREE BRAVE KNIGHTS (Tune: Three Blind Mice)
Three brave knights,
Three brave knight,
Stand tall and proud,
Stand tall and proud,
Their swords and shields are shiny and bright,
For king and country they’re ready to fight,
They live by the code and stand for what’s right,
Those three brave knights.Slide6
