As smooth as

silk.Slide3

Let’s Practice! Simile or Metaphor?

As the teacher entered the room she muttered under her breath, "This class is like a three-ring circus!”

The pillow was a cloud when I put my head upon it after a long daySlide7

Simile or Metaphor?

I feel like a limp dishrag.

Those girls are like two peas in a pod.

The fluorescent light was the sun during our test.

The bar of soap was a slippery eel during the dog’s bath.

Ted was as nervous as a cat with a long tail in a room full of rocking chairs.Slide8

FAIRY by Serena

Her blue eyes as bright as the sky

Her shimmering and glittering wings just like gold

Her decorated clothes, fine and smooth like silkHer pretty long bronze hair

Her lips as red as a primroseHer bag full of fairy dust and good magicSprinkling everywhere.Slide9

Excerpt of “Petals” by Amy Lowell

Life is a stream

On which we strew

Petal by petal the flower of our heart;

The end lost in dream,They float past our view,We only watch their glad, early start. Slide10

I AM A SWORD by Alex

I am a sword,

Sharper than a tongue

Nobody can defeat me,Because I am a sword,

I can not be hurt by what people sayAbout me, I will not show my angerAgainst

Someone else.Slide11
