Overdraft control How does overdraft control work?When you have Overdraft Control, we’ll stop payments f pay ng them would create or ncrease an unarranged overdraft on your account: D rect Deb ts and stand ng ordersBACS and CHAPS paymentsChequesFuture dated payments arranged by telephone or onl ne bank ngDeb t cardYou’ll get a deb t card w th overdraft control but t doesn’t allow you to make some transact ons such as contactless payments or payments on a plane regardless of your account balance – these are known as of ne payments, where your bank s not contacted electron cally and s unaware of the transact on.What happens f you don’t have overdraft control?If there was a payment due on your account (l ke a D rect Deb t) wh ch would create or ncrease an unarranged overdraft, then we would use our d scret on, tak ng nto account your nanc al c rcumstances, when dec d ng whether or not to make the payment:If we agreed to make the paymentwh ch sent you nto an unarranged overdraft, you’d normally have to payan unarranged overdraft usage fee of£8 for each day there was anunarranged overdraft of greater than£10 on your account (max mum of 9fees per monthly charg ng per od)If we rejected the payment, you’d normally have to pay an unpa d transact on fee of £8 for each transact on we reject (max mum 1 fee per monthly charg ng per od)The monthly cap on unarranged overdraft charges s £80. Once t s cancelled, we’ll use our d scret on to dec de whether or not to pay them.Glossary An arranged overdraft – s a l m t on your current account, agreed n advance between you and the bank, wh ch allows you to keep spend ng up to th s agreed l m tAn unarranged overdraft – s when an account becomes overdrawn w thout pr or arrangement w th us Monthly cap on unarranged overdraft charges –1.Each current account w ll set a monthly max mum charge for: (a) go ng overdrawn when you have not arranged an overdraft; or (b) go ng over/past your arranged overdraft l m t ( f you have one).2.Th s cap covers any: (a) nterest and fees for go ng over/past your arranged overdraft l m t; (b) fees for each payment your bank allows desp te lack of funds; and (c) fees for each payment your bank refuses due to lack of funds.A bus ness day – s a day on wh ch banks n the UK are generally open for bus ness, other than weekends and local bank hol days.
