In describing the Law the psalmist uses synonyms. The words testimonies, precepts, judgments, statutes, and God’s word are used throughout the psalm. When read, one can see the importance of the Law to the life of Israel.. v. 2 . He’s in a muddy pit (can you relate?!). v. 1 He cries to the Lord for help . . . then . . waits patiently. v. 2 The Lord brings him out of the pit. v. 3a The Lord gives him a new song to sing.
