CERP

stands for the Continuing Education Recognition Program.The Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition (CCEPR) as an agency of the ADA recognizes providers of continuing dental education (CDE), not individual programs and activities.

What is CERP?

Recognition provides assurances to the public and governmental agencies (i.e., state licensing boards) that continuing education activities meet or exceed established standards for providing high quality educational experiences.

Why is this important?

Courses must have a sound scientific basis.

Learner centered educational objectives and goals are stated.Courses are free from commercial bias.A learning assessment or course evaluation completed by participants.What are these “standards”?

CERP allows its recognized providers to extend their approval to constituent or component societies.

The AAPD acts as the “approver” for the local CDE provider. The Extended Approval Process
