Status of NIRISS WFSS modeRelatively complex sequence of dithers and mechanism movesDither 1: Direct Image in filter 1 Grism
Images (1 or 2
grisms)
Dithers 2 – (N-1): Grism Images (1 or 2 grisms
)Dither N:
Grism Images (1 or 2 grisms) Direct Image in filter 1WFSS template available in APTStill has “old” dither patternsDoesn’t yet allow more than one exposure sequence per visit (i.e., >1 filter)Incorrect bookkeeping of Photon Collect Duration for Direct ImagesThese changes will go into APT 23.4 (since not critical for CV3….),
should be available by early 2016
Nice to have: “canned” mini-mosaics
as “secondary dither patterns” (but can already be made through Mosaic Properties tab)
2Slide3
Status of NIRISS SOSS modeSOSS template available in APTMax. limit for NINTS is still 10 for NISRAPID pattern – will become 65535(However, the clock time and overheads are already calculated correctly)Currently issues error for exposure longer than 10,000 s – however, SOSS exposures will be allowed to expose through HGA reconfigurationsDoesn’t yet allow more than one exposure per visit
These
changes should go into APT 23.4 (since not critical for CV3….)No Target Acquisition interface yet
Will be introduced after OSS Build 5 (Feb 2016)Post-CV3 analysis items:Make decision on Nr. of rows to be read out for “Background Resets” in between integrations (only for subarray
options)Has minor impact
on effective clock time per frame (small overhead in between integrations). 3Slide4
Status of NIRISS AMI modeAMI template available in APTNIS pattern is still available – will be eliminated for SUB80 subarray optionMax. limit for NINTS is still 10 – will become 10,000 (for NRM exposures)Max. limit for NGROUPS is still 30 – will become 800 for NRM and 120 for Direct Images (However, clock time and overheads already calculated correctly)
AMI Dither Patterns not available yet, though delivered long ago; will likely be implemented by early 2016.
These changes should go into APT 23.4 (since not critical for CV3….)

Make decision on [necessity of] secondary (sub-pixel, w/FSM) dither patterns4Slide5
Status of NIRISS IMAGING modeImaging template available in APTMost likely use is for science parallelsCalibration & Commissioning programs will likely be easier with “External Calibrations” APT template (see slide 8)Dither patterns not (yet) availableWill likely get implemented into APT by early 2016

Prep work on Science Parallels has started
Efficiency WG came up with list of 10 prime/parallel combinations to study implementation (2 tiers of 5)No mechanism moves during integrations
One mechanism at a timeData volume constraintsMany prime/parallel combos will benefit
from dedicated dither patterns6Slide7
