British Airways domestic travel What this benefit offers Vitality members This benefit gives Vitality members savings on domestic British Airways flights. By using this benefit, you agree that Discovery Vitality and British Airways (operated by Comair) may share your payment and personal information to administer the benefit effectively. Who may use this benefit All Discovery Vitality members may use this benefit but you must be 18 years or older to make the booking. Bookings are non - transferable. This means when a booking is in one person’s name, you cannot change it to another person. No name changes are allow ed on the tickets. If you join Vitality more than three months after you have joined Discovery Health, Discovery Life or Group Life, there is a waiting period of three months before you can use the Vitality travel partners, including British Airways domestic flights. The three - month travel waiting period starts from the date your Vi tality membership starts. If you add a dependant, the travel waiting period will be the same as that of the main member. Dependants will not have a separate travel waiting period. Example: Sarah joins Discovery in October 2013, but only activates her Vita lity membership in February 2014. She has to wait until May 2014 to use the Vitality travel benefits. What you pay You do not pay any extra fees for this benefit, other than the normal monthly premium for Vitality, the price for the ticket and the Vitali ty booking fee. The discount you receive on ly applies to the price of the ticket and does not apply to airport taxes, levies and surcharges. How it works Getting started You need to book a ticket at least five days in advance. To get this benefit you can book on www.discovery.co.za or www.kulula.com when you log in with your Vitality details. Reme mber to log in with your Vitality details as your saving is calculated upfront. You will get an e - ticket and can go straight to the check - in counter at the airport. You will have to show your identity document before you fly. Alternatively you can book y our flight directly with British Airways (operated by Comair) by calling their Contact Centre on 011 921 0490; they may charge you an extra administration fee for this. Please ask about these fees when calling the Contact Centre. Make sure you have your Di scovery Vitality membership and credit card details ready. You will not get your Vitality saving if you book on www.ba.com At the airport, you can check in with your identity document. How your savings are calculated Your saving depends on your Discovery Vitality status at the time of your booking: Blue Bronze Silver Gold Diamond 15% 20% 25% 30% 35% The saving does not apply to airport taxes, levies and fuel surcharges. It only applies to the base rate (including VAT). You cannot use the Vitality saving with any other discounts. Limit on the number of flights in a year The limit for this benefit is up to 12 return domestic class flights (or 24 one - way flights) for each member on the Vitality membership. This includes kulula.com flights. The discounts are applicable to economy class and business class. B usiness class flights will be counted as two and deducted from your usage. Terms for bookings The destinations might change at any time. At this time, they include:  Cape Town – Johannesburg  Cape Town – Port Elizabeth  Durban – Johannesburg  Durban – Port Elizabeth  Johannesburg – Cape Town  Johannesburg – Durban  Johannesburg – Port Elizabeth  Port Elizabeth – Johannesburg  Port Elizabeth – Cape Town  Port Elizabeth - Durban  Durban – Cape Town  Cape Town – Durban  You cannot make provisional bookings. You must pay immediately using a credit card.  If you realise, at the time of making you r booking, that the discount is not correct, you have to immediately call the British Airways Contact C entre on 011 921 0490. Discovery Vitality cannot refund you afterwards.  You will only get the Vitality saving on the cost of the ticket, not on airport taxes, levies or fuel surcharges. This saving also doesn’t apply to the additional costs charged when you cancel your booking or make changes to it.  There will be a Vitality booking fee added to each ticket for all domestic flights booked through Vitality. This fee includes VAT and is not included with the discounted base fare and is not refundable .  You cannot use these tickets on another airline. Tickets cannot be re - routed. This means that you cannot change t he airports where you chose to depart from or go to after you’ve booked your ticket and it has been issued.  The discount applies to specific class rates and does not include sale fares offered by British Airways (operated by Comair).  British Airways (operated by Comair) flight discounts available for Vitality members are worked out on normal published rates only and not on sales offered by British Airways (operated by Comair) from time to time.  If you miss the first leg of the flight (on the day you depart), the return flight will be cancelled. You will not get a refund for your missed flight. If you still want to use the return flight and there is a seat available, you can book the flight at the British Airways counter or by calling S pecial Projects booking agents on 011 921 0490. Standard fees and surcharges will apply.  British Airways (operated by Comair) terms and conditions apply . You can find these on www.kulula.com Children under two years old  Only one infant (child under two years) can be booked to accompany each travelling adult. Should two infants and one adult have to fly together; the ad ult will pay the full fare for an extra adult to help. To book the help of an accompanying adult, the request must be made at least 48 hours before departure.  An infant (child under two years) will pay a discounted fee of the fare and must be seated on th e adult’s lap – this is for all cabin classes.  Children younger than two do not pay a Vitality booking fee. If, however, the child turns two years old before the return flight, the domestic travel booking fee will apply.  A child (from the age of two to 11 years) will pay a discounted fee of the fare and will have a seat – this is for all cabin classes.  If a child is under two years on the date of departure, the cost of the airfare will be a discounted fee and no seat will be allocated. But if the infant turns two before the return flight, a seat will have to be booked for the return flight.  For more information, click here or visit www.kulula.com  Call the British Airways Contact C entre on 011 921 0490 to make bookings for Unaccompanied Minors under the age of 12. This is subjected to the airline rules. Before you fly: confirmation and special requests You must make special requests at least 72 hours before your departure. Flight schedules do sometimes change. You can go to www.ba .com , “Manage my booking” 48 hours before departure to confirm your flight. To check in online, go to www.ba.com 24 hours before departure. Baggage allowance Each passenger has a checked baggage allowance of up to 23kg and a hand baggage allowance of up to 7kg for economy class. Passengers travelling in business class have a checked baggage allowance of two bags up to 32 kg each. Infants (children under two years old) have a checked baggage allowance of 1 bag up to 23kg. Additional bags can be purchased. Should any baggage allowance be exceeded, an Excess Baggage Charge will apply. Changing or cancelling your booking If you want to change your flight or cancel your booking, you may do so before the original departure date, as long as there are seats available. There is an administration fee for changes or cancellations. This is set by British Airways (operated by Comair). Changes or cancellations can be requested on www.ba.com , from the British Airways Contact Centre on 011 921 0222 (option 1) or from British Airways Special Projects on 011 921 0490. Refunds and cancellations can ONLY be done by British Airways Special Projects. The Vitality saving doesn’t apply on the extra costs when you cancel or make changes to a booking. The only exception the airline will make in charging a fee for changing or cancelling bookings is if the ticketholder cannot use the ticket because of death or hospitalisation. The airline may ask for pro of. About British Airways Executive Club British Airways Executive Club is the British Airways frequent flyer programme. Avios is the currency of the Club. As a Vitality member you will earn Avios points when you fly, if you are a British Airways Executive Club member. You may not use Avios to pay for flights when you get a Vitality discount. Ending this benefit If your Vitality membership ends, you can still use British Airways domestic flights you booked before your membership ended.
