To-do lists There are several advantages of utilizing a to-do lists as a time-management technique They help you organize your priorities, enhance your productivity, and keep you on track. There are many ways to create a to-do list.

How to NOT Procrastinate when you put off things that you should be focusing on right now, usually in favor of doing something that is more enjoyable or that you’re more comfortable doing . The causes of Procrastination What are some procrastination elimination strategies?

Procrastination elimination strategies Time-Telling Reframe Deadlines into smaller units of time Prompts/reminder notes Reinforcement The bits and pieces approach The five-minute plan

Challenging and changing beliefs Irrational Belief “It’s too late to complete task” I’m very good at getting things done at the last minute, so I don’t have to worry. Some misperceptions increase anxiety about a task and can lead to a feeling of hopelessness What argument and statements (self-talk challenges) can you use to discredit an irrational belief? Self Talk Challenge “It’s never too late. If I get started now. I can make progress and get done.” I fool myself into thinking I do a good job when I wait til the last minute. The truth is I rush and my main concern is to finish the task rather than do a good job

Identify your three favorite procrastination beliefs and write a challenge for three of them It’s unpleasant It’s not due yet I work better under pressure Maybe it will take care of itself It’s too early in the day It’s too late in the day I don’t have any papers with me It’s difficult I don’t feel like doing it now I have a headache I really mean to do it, but I keep forgettingIt might be embarrassingI don’t know where to beginI’m too tiredI’m too busy right nowIt’s a boring jobI need to sleep on itIt’s too late now, anyway

Create a Planner Pick up a copy of your school's term/semester calendar Develop a calendar of important dates for your classes:  Tests, papers, projects, readings, mid-term and final exams, holidays, breaks, study days, etc. Enter important dates for your work, social, and family life Each week develop a daily schedule that includes routines and important dates Post this schedule in your study area   for referral and review, and to mark your progress Don't expect perfection You are developing a new or altered way of achieving your goals.  Sometimes, there will be events that interfere, and are cause for re-evaluating this schedule.
