PRACTICE: Friday, May 24th, 12:00pmEnter in the North Gate and park in either lot nearest that entrance to the fairgroundsProceed to the McGill Marketplace Building (first building inside the gate on the right)Arrive IN THE MCGILL BUILDING no later than 11:30amDress casually, but not like your going out for teen night or just rolled out of bed!! Board of Education representatives, community members, and your faculty will be there and we want to be well-representedCome prepared to pay attention! Things will move quickly and you will be getting A LOT of directions!! You don’t want to be the one doing it wrong!This day will be the LAST OPPORTUNITY to pay for any fines, or you will not be allowed to participate!!Herff Jones will be on-site to make last minute changes for cap/gown issues

GRADUATION: Saturday, May 25th, 3:30pmEnter in the West Gate and park in the West Lot where you can find a spotTraffic will likely be TERRIBLE, so plan to be early!Students: Proceed to the McGill Marketplace Building (same building in which you started practice)Students: Arrive IN THE MCGILL BUILDING no later than 2:30pm to begin lining upStudents: Check and double-check your graduation apparel for all pieces:GownCap – NO DECORATION ON TOP!!!Tassel (HOCO or Gold for Beta Club)Stole (HOCO or Nat’l Honor Society)Cords and/or Gold Honor Stole (if received)NO décor from organizations not affiliated with HCHS

GRADUATION: Saturday, May 25th, 3:30pmMale Dress CodeWhite ShirtBlack Tie/Bowtie (design is okay, but mostly black)Black PantsBlack SocksBlack ShoesFemale Dress CodeBlack Dress (if showing from underneath gown)White Top (if showing out of the top of your gown or out of the sleeves)If the dress and/or blouse doesn’t show at all, it is not required to be black and/or white, but please avoid “loud” colors, as the gown is not very thick material and really bright colors may show throughBlack Shoes (cork/brown wedge bottoms are okay, but must be black on the top)ONLY EARRINGS…NO NOSERINGS OR OTHER PIERCINGS!

Parent/Visitor/Guest InformationGraduation is held in the Miller-Murphy-Howard Building, nearest the West Gate entrance of the fairgroundsWe are the last graduation to be held on this date, and doors will not open for guests to enter until 2:30pm.Handicapped guests can enter through doors on the right side (if looking at the front) with one additional guestFirst Come/First Served seating until the auditorium is fullNo reserving seatsDoors to the M-M-H Bldg. close at 3:15pmWhen seating is full or after 3:15 (whichever comes first) guests will be required to go to overflow seating to watch the simulcast of the ceremony!When the ceremony is over, please exit as quickly as possible and take pictures OUTSIDE. The staff must begin promptly “breaking down” the auditorium seating for other events.

Entering the ceremonyEnter into the arena in a respectful and professional mannerIt is okay to speak to family as you pass by, but you must not get out of line for any reason (hugs, high fives, etc.) and you must keep movingRespectful Behavior is EXPECTED and will be monitored and maintainedThis is a Dignified CeremonyLoud cheering by graduates for individuals as they are called is not allowedDisrespect of any graduate or the ceremony by graduates is not allowedConsequences for not adhering to expectationsRemoval of the graduate from the graduation ceremonyHolding of your diploma after the ceremony pending a meeting with Dr. Rizer, Mr. Jones and your parents/guardians

Before the ceremonyRemember that seating is first come, first served and CANNOT be reserved/saved for others arriving at a later timePlease be courteous of handicapped guests and allow wheelchair patrons and those accompanying these guests a reasonable number of seats at the end of a row, if possible.Failure to follow these guidelines or other instructions of the ushers helping to seat guests will possibly result in removal from the ceremony siteAs graduates enter the ceremonyFeel free to speak to your graduate, take pictures of them passing, etc.Please DO NOT ask your graduate to stop and hug family members or pose for a picture. This will cause the line to stop and significantly delay the ceremony.Respectful Behavior is EXPECTED and will be monitored and maintainedThis is a Dignified CeremonyLoud cheering by family members for individuals as they are called across the stage that significantly interferes with the ceremony will be grounds for removal from the event.Disrespect of any graduate or the ceremony by audience members will not be tolerated and will possibly result in removal from the event.
