Another season of the SCPC has come to an end and its time for the Seasonal National Champion and Division Champion announcements.
It has become the tradition of the SCPC to make this announcement on the Fourth of July.
With the season ending the last day of June, the anticipation of who will claim the National Championship occupies much of my time as it is during the month of June that I begin going through the coaches game entries and league standings, updating, documenting and preserving information for the SCPC historical records. This is always of great interest to me. I enjoy very much going through the individual league and team records and seeing how each team progressed to become one of the top ranked teams and contender for the Season National Champion.
For the most part, a review of these records are just reading a lot of game scores and numbers in the won and lost columns of these leagues. These are important numbers though. As a student of the history of football that is often all that remains of a team’s or league’s history. We are fortunate though that in the electric football community, solitaire coaches often take great pride in documenting their games with game action photos, play by play reports and individual player statistics. With a little research of all the available outlets such as forums, blogs, websites and social media accounts of the SCPC coaches, we can often find very interesting and entertaining information to make the numbers have more meaning. However I do have some concern about the future of the SCPC. This seasons game count is down dramatically and the number of coaches participating in the SCPC has dwindled to just a few coaches dedicated and committed to completing their seasons and keeping their SCPC accounts current and up to date.
Unfortunately I am one of the ones who have contributed to this decline. I personally have not participated in the SCPC this past season. I do still play a game occasionally and follow the rest of the coaches who are participating, but I have somewhat lost interest in committing to playing on a regular basis and completing a full league season. It is with that confession that I am asking the coaches of the solitaire electric football community to give me some suggestions for improving the SCPC and ideas to make the SCPC something that more coaches will want to participate in.
For now the SCPC will continue with Season VI beginning Sept. 1, 2017. Thank you to those coaches who did participate in Season V and congratulations to the Season National Champion and Division Championship winners.Happy Independence Day,
Chris LeMaySlide3
