What Should Maria Do?As a new student at UMBC, Maria’s main concerns are finding her way around campus, landing a part-time job, and making friends. But in the back of her mind, she also has some big questions about the future. Maria wants to make a difference—she just doesn’t know how. She likes the idea of helping people directly as a teacher or counselor, but she has never tried working with children and isn’t sure if she’ll be good at it. Slide9
What Should Maria Do?Maria is also very interested in other cultures. She has always been passionate about human rights issues, so her family thinks she should be a lawyer or policy-maker. But she doesn’t know much about those careers and worries they might not suit her personality. These days it seems like everyone’s favorite question is, “What’s your major?” Maria wishes she knew.
