Handling & reconciliation of

GoHP

Power UI a/c

Handling Sale of GoHP Power as per GOI guidelines under “Short-Term Open Access” procedure & reconciliation of

GoHP Power UI a/c w.e.f. April 2008, by using automatic schedulers. A GoHP Power Fax is generated and uploaded on daily basis on the web site.

Message-A: The availability of GoHP Power scheduled to PTC as per Entitlement Schedule of NRLDC at 11 AM. This availability is subject to change in the ‘Net Drawal’ and ‘Final Drawal’ to be issued by NRLDC at 17:00 Hrs and 23:00 Hrs.

A1-Details of Free Power, Equity Power, SOR, Unallocated Share, GoHP power to out site HP & GoHP power to HPSEBL calculations in 15 minutes blocks from

GoHP Stations as per Entitlement issued by NRLDC.Message-B:

The availability of GoHP Power scheduled to PTC as per Revision-0 “Net Drawal Schedule’ of NRLDC at 5 PM. This availability is subject to change in the ‘Final Drawal’ (Rev-1) to be issued by NRLDC at 23:00 Hrs. B1- Details of Free Power, Equity Power, SOR, Unallocated Share, GoHP power to out site HP & GoHP power to HPSEBL calculations in 15 minutes blocks from GoHP Stations as per Revision-0 Net Drawal Schedule issued by NRLDC.

Message-C: The availability of GoHP Power scheduled to PTC as per Revision-1 “Final Drawal

Schedule’ of NRLDC at 11 PM. This availability is based on the ‘Final Drawal’ (Rev-1) to be issued by NRLDC at 23:00 Hrs. C1- Details of Free Power, Equity Power, SOR, Unallocated Share,

GoHP power to out site HP & GoHP power to HPSEBL calculations in 15 minutes blocks from GoHP Stations.

Slide27

Daily creation and analysis of power system data for identification of errors through AAR Report to support MIS:

Compilation & analysis of Actual Availability and Requirement of HPSEBL (AAR report) with graph & Summary reports (SAAR). Actual power supply system status of previous day is being daily analyzed by S/W Cell through Actual Availability and Requirement (AAR) report, which is further compared with daily power supply position (DPS) report. This comparative analysis checks & rectified errors, if any, in DPS data & as well as in AAR data. It involves analyzing of data in detail in order to track the system. The power supply system has been break down into 96 time blocks in this comparative analysis.

Maintenance of Software Cell Servers

The ALDC software cell is currently equipped with three servers:

Web Server

Database Server-1- OracleBackup ServerThe periodic software & hardware overhauling of these servers is also done by S/W cell itself.

Slide28

Safeguarding of networks through Firewall

At ALDC we have a Cyberoam firewall installed in order to secure our networks. This firewall is used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to our network. All messages entering or leaving the intranet are made to pass through the firewall. Which examines each message and issues digital signatures for the valid ones and blocks the malicious ones which do not meet the specified security criteria. This firewall also acts as the central hub of all the connections to various locations of HPSEBL including the main office and Sub-ALDC at

Hamirpur

. Maintenance of this hardware firewall is another major responsibility of the S/W cell.

Slide30

Objective of Operations

The ALDC S/W cell has been constituted in the year April, 2007 for carrying out handing of Sale of

GoHP

Power under “Short-Term Open Access” procedure through PTC, TATA etc. After the development of in house software application, the scope of the work has further increased, it is not only confined to the handling of sale of power of

GoHP but also responsible for gathering, processing, displaying information about HPSEBL power system and making it available online. This process involves creation of a centralized resource of seamless data such that online dispatch of power i.e. scheduling of HPSEBL’s power under all transactions viz. sale through open tender, bilateral agreement, banking, energy accounting, generation of various reports, collection of data from various sources, and other random analysis could be carried out and come of the manual processes could be automated so that they can become error free.

This project is intended to expand on computerized load dispatch and communication facilities which are an essential requirement in managing the control centre operations encompassing a large and complex interconnection it involves lot of research & development in order to produce new state of the art tools and techniques to equip ALDC with better control on power management by carrying out methodologies for data acquisition & storage which shall be made available as online archives for analyzing trends of power generation and executing beneficial power trading with other power entities with the help of a decision support system which can be used for accurate forecasting of power generation and a user interactive management information system for better power merchandising so as to run the power system at maximum economy, and for getting real time information for speedy and efficient decision-making.

It is also going to provide support on account of historical information management, matching of forecasted & actual demand & load flow trends, reduction of meticulous human planning for day-ahead schedules and regulation of own generation according to frequency profiles as per the historical data scenarios & other planning and contingency analysis.
