That this world is filled with lies. That every person is fake. Margo says that that the world is filled with paper(lies) everywhere. Paper is also referred to it means that this person or this thing is only two dimensioned. Everything looks good from far away but as soon as you get close its all filled with cracks. For example a good person may have a bad heart or bad intentions. Many people can be looked at different ways. This is import because when Margo leaves she has a problem where she wants to be left alone by others. This is why the author may has chosen this tittle. But in some points the characters have trust issues trusting others.

SIGNFIANCE OF TITLE

Slide3

Paper Towns is the story of a boy named Quentin Jacobsen and the adventure he is drawn into by his childhood friend and secret love Margo. Margo is the most popular girl in school, rather then Q who's a gee. when Margo sneaks into Quentin's bedroom and asks him to help her execute an eleven-part plan, which largely involves taking revenge on her ex-boyfriend. Throughout the night, Quentin is

exhausted and Q finds his love to be very powerful towards her.

Margo completely disappears and Quentin

finds a way through to find her. Margo has left clues about her so he could find her.

Summary

Slide4

The setting was Orlando, Florida in the early 2000s. There we’re mainly three places this book place in, one being Jefferson High, second being Q’s & Margo’s houses and third being the Orlando itself. At the end of the story though, they go to Agloe, New York to find Margo. I think John uses real places in this story to give it a more non-fictional feel. You would think that these events actually happened because he used real places. As for the genres of the story, those fit perfectly. The genres are Romantic & Thrilling and that is just what the story is. Everything about this book is thrilling to say the least. The thrilling would be them breaking into Sea World and the romantic would be the sweet little kiss they share at the end. This story couldn’t have been put into a better setting or genre.

SETTING AND GENRE

Slide5

At the beginning of the novel, Quentin and Margo struggles to finish the mission that Margo made for the last day that she hangs out with Quentin. However, as she goes missing the next day, Quentin struggles to find the clues that Margo left behind, trying to find

Margo.

Later, the conflict deals with whether Quentin and his friends are able to find the right location of Margo or not. This is the biggest change when out of nowhere the main character leaves because she tired of everyone being fake to her. But the major change is when she gets found. But there are reasons why it all happened.

MAJOR CHANGES

Slide6

The main characters of this story are Quentin Jacobsen aka Q and Margo Roth Spiegelman. Quentin has to be my favorite, he is someone we can all relate to on some level. He is smart, calm, and careful but can also be obsessive and self-absorbed. Plus he has a general lack of punctuality, like the most of us. He hangs out with the all band geeks, nerds and the other “social outcasts”. He is very worthy of praise because of the fact of how much of a good person he really is. He is a loyal person and cares about almost everyone’s well-being. There really anything to criticize him over other than the fact that he fell in love with someone that wasn’t good for him because of the way she was.

Margo on the other hand… she’s a different story. In my honest opinion, she’s not that great of a person. Always running away… always getting into some sort of trouble. Of course she’s the most popular girl in school, she’s gorgeous and obviously she is dating the most popular guy in school. Self-proclaimed “paper girl” Margo does not correct anyone on the fact that she’s actually quite a mysterious person and not really the out-going leader that they have all grown to hate or love. She never really publicized who she actually was and that being a folk music listening poetry lover. Margo is worthy of praise and criticism. Praise for honestly actually being quite cool for the places she’s been to and the things she has done when she ran away those few times, and criticism for putting everyone through some sort of trouble for some selfish reason.

Main Character

Slide7

One of the human natures is human makes mistakes. Quen made a mistake by going late at night with Margo sneaking out from there parents. Later on he knew he was going to get into trouble as in another thing he snook into SeaWorld with her. Gladly they did not get caught at all didn’t end it in prison.

Second of the human natures is humans can love. Slowly

Quen

started to fall more in love with Margo but slowly Margo started treating him as just a friend.

Quen knew that it wouldn't last long but he had to try to get to her and help her be there with her.

The last one is humans can hate. As you read Margo hate her best friend because she didn't tell her that her bf was cheating on her. Slowly her grudge grew up and got revenge on her own

bestfriend

for what she did

HUMAN NATURE

The sentence is “You can tell what its place really is. You see how fake it all is. It's not even hard enough to be made of out plastic. It’s a paper town.” The theme was embodied by the way she had said it that everyone was fake and it's true. Every detail and how the world is coming to an end describe most of things she said. Closely everyone in that town was paper and plastic. Imagine the world of being just plain paper is what she thought of the world.

THEME

Slide9

When Margo is sick and tired of being that girl who's been taken advantage of. Her ex boyfriend who cheats on her makes her unsafe. She feels as if she's not important. She really want somebody who cares. I wouldn't want to be treated unfairly or something I don’t even know about that my friends are doing I believe that Margo did the right thing by running away so she could seek attention that people can come and find her. I believe everyone should be treated equally. Epically when there's people who are careless and have a bad or cold heart. I think the issue in this that women are taken advantage of. So this issue can be solved by caring about them

Paper Towns happens to be my first John Green novel. I was worried that this story would just be typical teen fiction that involves a lot of romance, break-ups and teen angst but Paper Towns isn’t like this at all… it’s so much more than that. The mystery part complete surprise. Now I just want to have a spontaneous road trip and do something completely unrealistic that I can remember forever. That’s what I think makes this good novel, Paper Towns makes you want to do something and it makes you feel something.

The ‘paper towns’ idea and how it’s put into the story in different ways is amazing. The characters are also unique and have awesome one of a kind personalities. I particularly liked Q and his personal journey in this book. As for Ben (is it just me or does anyone else think of him as

McLovin

from

Superbad

? I can just imagine him talking about “

honeybunnies

”). He’s hilarious. I loved all of the characters.

In all I just really really loved this book. I now can see now why so many people quote John Green’s work. He definitely has a talent for writing amazing books. It wouldn’t be enough to read his books just once because it’s all about the messages and the metaphors more so than the basic storyline. I would honestly recommend this book to everyone. It’s really an amazing book. I wouldn’t have changed absolutely anything about this book. It couldn’t have been written any better.

GENRAL REVIEW

Slide12

“If you don't imagine , nothing will ever happen at all” This quote speaks to me because it's saying what if you don't imagine then your life is pretty boring/sad“As long as we don't die, this is gonna be one hell of a story” Quen

knew what he was risking and Margo knew it would be a really great adventure.

“Maybe all the strings inside him broke” This is saying that he didn't stand this world anymore so he gave up basically his last string.

“Nothing ever happens like you imagine it will” Showing that you don't really ever get your way which speaks to me.

“She loved mysteries so much that she became one” This quote describes really the whole story about Margo becoming one which I chose because you can become your own mystery.

“The way I figure it, everyone gets a miracle” No matter how rough it gets everyone gets a miracle which I think it's really true.

“ I can almost imagine a happiness without her the ability to let her go, to feel our roots are connected even if I never see that leaf of grass

again”This

created tension in the story the plot twist and how

Quen

had to move on.

“ I always felt like you had to be important to have enemies” I chose this because it's a persons opinion on why someone would have enemies different view points.

“Life has become the future every moment of your life is lived for the future” Those quotes spoke to me telling me that you are basically living the future.

“But once that string gets cut kid, you can't uncut it. Do you get what I'm saying?” This I

chosed

it because it says once you give up you can't go back.
