The Marine Paleozoic Fossil Record of Great Basin National Park, Nevada: Transcript

Kaytan Kelkar and AnnMarie Jones Mosaics in Science and GeoCorps America 2014 Project Goals To conduct an inventory of the paleontological resources To prospect known fossil localities for new specimens. GEOL 2110. The Paleozoic Era. Geological History of Gondwanaland and Late Paleozoic Life. Major Concepts. The continental reconstructions of . Gondwana. by Werner and . DuToit. were bang on and confirmed by geologic mapping, . . Świętokrzyski (Holy Cross) . National Park . is. one . of the most . beautiful. . parks. . in . Poland . created. . it in . . M. ay . 1950.. The total area is 5908 h. T. he . animals. . . Funding . enabled the . Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. to expand its existing high school science internship program by hiring 25 interns from North Carolina high schools over two years. The organization’s recruitment programs reached over 1,800 students in targeted North Carolina counties. Interns, who received training to perform ranger duties and assist scientists and park staff with field research and educational programs, interacted with over 6,000 visitors to the park over the two-year period. Following their internships, over 90% of interns showed some type of knowledge gain on concept maps. Interns indicated that the program helped them understand science better; moreover, the majority of interns agreed that as a result of the program they were more excited about science, had an improved understanding of what scientists do, and were more interested in learning about science. The Australian experience. 2014 CCICED Annual General Meeting. Roger Beale AO. Innovation. Innovation in environmental policy is underpinned by four elements:. Institutions. provide holistic management frameworks. The so called Cambrian Explosion begins at the base of the Paleozoic Era, some 540 million years ago. Fossil Record suggests:. The Cambrian Explosion likely realized a 10-fold increase in evolutionary adaptation . Biogeography | Homologies. Learning Objectives. Describe . how . biogeography . and homology provide evidence for evolution. Distinguish . between anatomical, molecular, and developmental homologies. e. Sequoia. 1890. Yellowstone. 1872. Yosemite. 1890. Mesa Verde. 1906. Grand Canyon. 1915. Everglades. 1934. Petrified Forest. 1962. Denali. 1980. Great Sand Dunes. 2004. History of . America’s . National Parks. & Adaptive Radiation. Images obtained from: http://www.micropress.org/stratigraphy/graphics/vol1.jpg, . Irreducible complexity of cells. Creationists argue that there is no catalyst or driving force to cause evolution, that the law of entropy means things become more disordered on their own. Biochemist Michael Behe popularized the concept of . White Pine County, NV. WHY Dolomite? . 80% of Worlds Largest Oil Fields. 13 of 17 new fields in US for 2013 . 8. 0% are 5,000 feet deep. 5,000 Barrels AVG Production Rates. 100% Recovery Possible. No Fracking Necessary.
