Warm-ups are designed to “warm-up” your brain. Upon

entering class each day, a warm-up will be

posted either on the board or the screen. Students are expected to copy down the warm up and give a written responseWarm-ups should be labeled and dated and kept in the warm-up section of your binder. Your warm-ups will be collected every two weeks for a classwork grade. Points will be deducted for having non-labeled, non-dated, or unfinished/incorrect work since we review the answers together in class.

Warm UpsSlide3

Students are expected to study their notes every night for a minimum of 10 minutes. They should review the class notes, any key terms, and maps that we are working on for a unit. This will prevent them from having to “cram” for a quiz or test. In addition, if a student does not complete the class work for that day it will be homework and he/she will be expected to complete it for class the next day.

All homework will be posted on the website.

Vocabulary Choice Board- 2 tasks for each set of words. These will be completed at home and will be put in the homework section of your binder. The goal is to get you to actually study your words. HomeworkSlide4

Unless specified otherwise, ALL assignments should be completed using a pencil. Work should be neat and legible. Work that is illegible will need to be redone or will have

10 points

taken off or will be given back to the student to redo. It is important to come to class prepared with a pencil. Having to find one is a distraction and could lead to a silent lunch. Pencil Please! Slide5

Students will be asked to complete two current events each quarter. These are worth 50% of their grade and should be completed on time. Due dates will be selected by students in advance so it should not be handed in late.

The sign up sheet will be posted online under current events page.

All current events will be done electronically and should be emailed to Ms. Berry by the correct due date. There is an opportunity to do an extra credit assignment; please see my website for details. AIG current events are a little different but all details are on my website. Current EventsSlide6

Please do not turn in work late!

10

points will be deducted for each day it is late. After 5 days, the assignment will receive a failing grade of 50 as long as it is turned in completed. After 10 days the assignment will receive a grade of 0. It’s important to complete all work since information builds and will help students on future tests and quizzes. Late WorkSlide7

If a student is absent on the day a previously announced assessment is given, they should expect to take that assessment the day they return to class (unless other arrangements are made prior to the absence). If a student would like to make up a test or quiz in the morning or afterschool then prior arrangements need to be made with the teacher.

Tests/Quizzes Slide8

If students do not have access to a computer at home, they are welcome to use any 7th grade teacher's classroom to access these assignments before/after school and during lunch.  Not having a computer is not an excuse for not having an assignment completed on time.

Extra-curricular

activities (dance, sports, clubs, church, and etc.) are also not an excuse for incomplete/missing homework.  ComputersSlide9
