Training in the Roman Empire
The first thing soldiers were taught was to march.They were trained to march in line in a compact formation even in battle.
Soldiers marched twenty roman miles over the summer months. (29.6 km)Slide3
Weapon Training
Wickerwork shields and wooden swords were used in training. They were twice as heavy as normal weapons.The logic behind this was that if you could fight with these weapons, you would be twice as effective with real weapons.
After completing the initial training with the sword, the recruit was to master the spear, called the

Laminate Strip Cuirass- A complex piece of armor that provided superior protection to other forms of armor.Chainmail armor-Rings of iron or bronze linked together in layers to make a badass piece of armor.
Scale armor-It was the most common form
of armor.
