Active vs. Passive

ACTIVE:

John discussed the problem.

PASSIVE:

The problem was discussed by John.

ACTIVE VOICE SHOULD BE USED IN FORMAL WRITING! (Exceptions for scientific writing)Slide6

Verb Tenses (First person)

Present: I protest.

Past: I protested.

Future: I will protest.

(prefect: finished)

Present Perfect: I have protested.

Past Perfect: I had protested.

Present Progressive: I am protesting.

Past Progressive: I was protesting.

Future Progressive: I
