In 2013, a unique experience occurred when Peace and two other Ruby Project team members competed on a national television game show – The American Bible Challenge, Season 2 – and with their bible trivia knowledge, won $25,000 for The Ruby Project. Additionally, Peace addresses diversity issues in higher education by spearheading a campus-based advocacy group for black students and student-athletes. It was her work with these students and psychology students that was a key component of the university’s decision to select her as the 2013 faculty recipient of the Servant Leadership Award. Prior to her work at HIU, Peace won the title as Miss Nigeria in America 2007 (a beauty pageant) and focused on diabetes awareness in the Nigerian community. She pioneered diabetes awareness campaigns for school-aged children and teens in the Los Angeles School district. Peace remains an active member of the community with involvements in such charities as PATH Homeless Shelter, LA Food bank, Red Cross, and Children’s Hospital.
