Developing and exploi�ng machine intelligence DAJO Solutions Keeping the old masters cool The Na�onal Gallery ’ s refurbishment programme included enhancements to its cooling system. Moeller ’ s advanced automa�on technology together with the exper�se of DAHO Solu�ons, implemented a solu�on that met their tough requirements. The original system employed six chillers in combina�on with main and auxiliary control panels for four compressors. A major limita�on of this system was poor part - load performance. To overcome this, DAHO Solu�ons split the auxiliary control panel from the main panel. Enabling individual control of the chiller units, and allowing the Na�onal Gallery to match capacity to building load more e�ciently. The new control system also faced an addi�onal challenge. It had to integrate with an exis�ng PLC controlling prac�cally all of the buildingΖs func�ons͖ including climate control, power distribu�on and ligh�ng. The solu�on was to network the new chiller controllers to a single Moeller PLC which then integrated with the exis�ng building management system. This implementa�on not only allowed individual control of the chillers, it also enhanced the level of communica�on to and from the devices. Hames Cheesewright, the Na�onal GalleryΖs project manager explained: " The new Moeller system gives us the ability to control opera�ng capacity according to demand.
